The action RPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem features three classes and an extensive skill system. We present to you a Mage build for Wolcen that allows you to level up easily solo and takes you from start to endgame.
We present to you the Pestlord build for the Mage class in Wolcen from YouTuber Vulkan. Powerful spells and a high crit value facilitate fast experience point collection and are excellent for boss kills.
If you prefer to play a melee fighter, check out the Blade Storm, and archers can take a look at the Frost Ranger.
Good beginner build in Wolcen
These are your main attributes
- Ferocity: Increases your chance for critical hits and spells.
- Wisdom: Increases the status effect chance of your attacks and spells.
You gain 10 skill points to distribute for each level gained. Invest 7 of them in Ferocity and 3 in Wisdom. Less important are Agility and Toughness. If you have to choose attributes for your equipment, choose Ferocity > Wisdom > Agility > Toughness.
These are your main talents
- Anomaly: A black hole that pulls your enemies to the center and deals area damage.
- Endless Blades: A melee combo attack that generates willpower with each enemy hit.
- Plague Burst: An area spell where all killed enemies explode and deal poison damage.
These are your secondary talents
- Tear of Etheliel: A comet that deals area damage at the target location.
- Light-Bringer: The best way to teleport out of a dangerous situation. Also creates an effect at the target point that heals you and damages enemies.
How to modify the skills: The more often you use a skill, the higher they level up and can be additionally modified. Similar to how it works with runes in Diablo 3. In Wolcen, however, you can select multiple modifications depending on the skill’s level. Our gallery gives you a quick overview:
Skills for the Mage build in Wolcen
How to skill your Mage: With each level, you gain a talent point that you can invest in the talent tree. This is quite complex and allows you to experiment a lot.
For the Pestlord Mage, however, you need to pay attention to the following:
9 points in the Scholar area (first circle)
- Spell and effect damage
- Spell speed
- Material status effect chance
- “Wearing Strategist” to increase the total status effect chance by an additional 60%.
17 points in the Warlock area (second circle)
- Willpower per hit
- Willpower regeneration
- Increasing willpower and rage
- Spell damage
- Wisdom
- Spell cost reduction
- Power shield regeneration
- “Resistance Against Corruption” to subtract damage over time from your power shield instead of your health points
- “Destruction Duty” to gain +200 rage and willpower
- “Unrestrained Darkness” to gain an additional critical hit chance of 100% as long as willpower is above 75%
7 points in the Time Weaver area (third circle)
- Power shield
- Status effect chance
- Dodge chance
- Aether damage
- Attack and spell speed
- “Captured Speed” to gain +10% spell and attack speed per stasis point inflicted on enemies.
- “What time cannot heal,” to deal an additional 100% hit damage to enemies affected by stasis after a 1.5-second delay.
8 points in the Soldier area (first circle)
- Melee and crit damage
- Movement speed
- Resistances and health regeneration
- “Substitute” to gain +60% on your total critical hit chance.
10 points in the Kabbalist area (second circle)
- Spell cost reduction
- Spell damage
- Status effect duration
- Resistances
- Wisdom
- Increase stack duration
- “The Power of the First People,” for a 50% chance to double the number of applied status effect stacks
- “Immortal Sacrifice” grants +5% damage for each status effect stack on the killed monster.
- “Serious Suffering” allows you to apply an additional status effect stack.
What to pay attention to in your equipment
- As a Mage, your equipment should focus more on power shield than on resistances or health.
- Just like with the attributes, the same applies here: Ferocity > Wisdom > Agility > Toughness.
- Critical hit or status effect chance are also stats to keep an eye on.
- The build is otherwise designed so that you do not need to specifically search for items.
How to use the Mage build in Wolcen
The entire build is based on the 3 main skills. You start with the Plague Burst, which you simply cast into a group of enemies. Then you use the Anomaly to deal damage to the enemies and keep them in the Plague Burst. You then deal the main damage with the Endless Blades and watch your enemies explode in the plague.
Use Tear of Etheliel when the enemy has more health points. This would be elite groups or bosses. Light-Bringer is your “Oh Shit” button. Use the skill to quickly get out of a dangerous situation and heal a bit.
At the launch of Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, there were unexpected issues. We wish you lots of fun while slicing.
