In Wolcen there is crafting that allows players to re-roll their items using “Aether Reagents”. Through Entropy Ball, Eireban Tear or Ohmic Echo, modifiers are removed or gained anew. We explain in the guide in German how crafting with the reagents works and what role the gemstones play.
Anyone who has been traveling in Wolcen for a while will stumble upon strange green marked items that are randomly dropped by mobs: Aether Reagent.
We explain in our crafting guide for Wolcen in German how to use these reagents to obtain better items and what to consider. This includes our own experience with the action RPG and the YouTuber ZiggyDaming.
The 2 Rarity Levels and 4 Types of Reagents in Wolcen
There are two colors of reagents:
- The white ones are for normal items. You should only use them for rare items (yellow).
- The red items are “larger versions” of these items, which you should use for legendary items (red).
What can be changed with the reagent? You can change the “blue” modifiers of an item in Wolcen. The “white” modifiers are fixed, and nothing can be changed about them.
Therefore, it is important to use an item with a high base level and strong white modifiers as a starting point as “base material” for crafting.
You use a reagent by activating it with the right-click. You apply it to the item you want to change with a left-click.

Wolcen Crafting Guide: Change, Add, Remove Attributes
The 4 Types of Reagents:
The simplest item is the Entropy Ball. It re-rolls an item completely. All blue skills are re-rolled.
The second item is “Ohmic Echo”: This item removes a random modifier and adds a new one.
The third item is “Abyssal Tear”: The reagent only removes one modifier, thus making an item weaker, but also creates space for new, better attributes.
The fourth item is “Eireban Tear”: This item adds a modifier if there is still space on the item. Normally, one modifier was removed earlier with the other tear when using Eireban Tear.
With Gemstones, You Help Luck Come Along
This is how gemstones work: If an item has sockets for gemstones, this gives the player the ability to influence the random factor. Because a newly rolled modifier (or a protected one during Abyssal Tears) has the chance of matching the values associated with a gemstone.
The used gemstones are destroyed during crafting, but the sockets themselves remain. According to YouTuber ZiggyD Gaming, all sockets should be filled; otherwise, there is a chance that the stones will not have any effect.
The gemstones have an appropriate type: For example, lapis lazuli is associated with the “Lightning” element, so an item could receive a modifier that loosely goes in this direction. This means that a lightning gemstone could grant elemental resistance.
What to consider when crafting with gemstones:
With the Entropy Ball, the gemstones only influence one modifier – not all.
With “Ohmic Echo,” the gemstones influence which modifier is added – not which one disappears.
If you want to remove a modifier using “Abyssal Tear” and socket gemstones that relate to physical damage, there is a high chance of keeping a matching modifier.
If you use “Eireban Tear” on an item that has these sockets, the chance of adding a modifier would be higher.
This gemstone should be kept: A special role is played by the gemstone “Genesis Stone” – those who use it with “Eireban Tear” have the chance to gain a special modifier that is only found on specific items obtained through the “Untainted” mechanic in expeditions.
However, there must be space on the item.
Wolcen Guide: Crafting in Practice
This is how crafting works: If you only want to craft “quickly” and do not want to use many resources on an item, you can re-roll it with the Entropy Ball and hope that it eventually fits.
If you want to experiment more, use the “Ohmic Echo” and gemstones to gain more influence over the result. You hope that a bad modifier goes away and a suitable one comes on.
If you want to get more out of crafting, work with the two tears and try to get rid of a weak modifier while protecting a strong one. Afterwards, you try to add a strong modifier to the item with the second tear. With this tactic, many gemstones and tears will be wasted.
What to consider: Crafting with reagents can be resource-intensive, especially when using gemstones. Therefore, it is a game of luck and patience.
