On Steam, the developers of Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem announced a hotfix. This is supposed to fix many serious bugs. Additionally, the general update situation was discussed. Currently, only one patch can be deployed per week.
What is included in the hotfix? Patch 1.0.4.0 is intended to fix several serious bugs that the successful action RPG Wolcen currently has. These bugs include:
- Item exploits and duplications, which are currently a major problem
- Bugs and crashes in the connection
- Invalid sale prices for stacked items
- Deletion of chest pieces when switching the account
- A bug that prevented saving offline characters
- In addition, numerous bugs related to quests, monsters, and items are being fixed.
Alongside the fixes, there are also minor balance changes and adjustments to localization. You can read the exact patch notes on the Steam website.

When will the update be released? Currently, patch 1.0.4.0 has not yet been released. However, it is expected to be published later this week. The developers have not yet specified when exactly.
In the preface to the patch notes, however, there were some additional insights and details. As of now, the Wolcen developers can only release one update per week. This is said to be due to partners of the company.
Server issues and limited number of updates
What are the problems? According to their own statements, the developers of Wolcen are currently facing two major problems:
- There are significant issues when many players log in at once. Therefore, the number of concurrent players has currently been limited.
- Only one update per week can be released, and it must be carefully coordinated with partners. This prevents smaller and quicker hotfixes from being released.
Both issues are expected to be resolved in the future.
What is being done? Currently, it is reported that they are working to improve the server infrastructure. The upcoming hotfix is expected to bring noticeable changes. The number of active players will be increased as soon as the developers notice improvements.
However, when and how the issue with the update rhythm will be resolved is not mentioned.
How are the players reacting? The general patch notes and balance changes are well received on reddit, although some players express additional requests for changes.
Many of them are shocked by the fact that only one update per week can be released. They fear that this could lead to a bigger problem for Wolcen.
While player numbers for the action RPG are currently very good, the reviews on Steam are already becoming more critical. This is due to the many issues Wolcen has. For instance, the game was offline for as long as 38 hours. The upcoming hotfix is expected to at least solve some of the serious problems. The rest will likely be adjusted only next week.
