After the first atomic bombs have already fallen in Fallout 76, some people are wondering: How did they manage that? One of the reasons may have been a tool developed by a fan to decrypt nuclear codes.
Nuke Code Cracker: To launch atomic missiles in Fallout 76, players need to find and subsequently decrypt the launch code. This should actually take several days. However, a tool cracks the codes simply using “brute force.”
Nukes Codes Cracked with a Tool
What happened? Already within the first hours after launch, players fired the first atomic missile after the release of Fallout 76. They likely gathered the codes partially beforehand, as the beta progress in Fallout 76 was transferred.
To get the launch code, they first had to crack the corresponding digit. The codes are delivered in 8 letter and number pairs, which all must be collected for the respective silo.
Subsequently, the codes must be decrypted using a solution word. This word is revealed daily and uncovers more letters that can be seen in the Whitespring bunker.
This is not the first atomic bomb ever in Fallout 76. Already in the beta, a group detonated an atomic bomb in Fallout 76.
How was the code decrypted? When the players launched the missile, only two of the letters were available. They eventually cracked the code simply using “brute force” and “trial and error.”
The NukaCrypt.com website was created by Reddit user Waffle_cop. He was part of the group that detonated the bomb.
NukaCrypt decrypts the required code with just a few of the necessary letters. The group ultimately received 18 possible codes through the method and tried them. The fourth one was already correct.
Is that allowed? Principally, there is nothing against it, as this is a feat that a human could also accomplish. The tool merely performs simple permutations.
With the given keyword, the launch code can be decrypted manually by arranging the alphabet once it is known.
The tool merely finds possible solution words with the given letters and outputs the resulting solutions.
Since the actual task is to gain access to the bunkers and collect the code itself, the tool is likely just a nice gimmick. If everything else is done, cracking the code won’t take long anyway.
To preserve the fun of the game and to ensure that you do not incur any penalties, we still advise against using the tool. The events help every player on the map anyway. You can still join in.

Regardless of the atomic bombs, Fallout 76 has a big problem. Fallout 76 made a critical mistake that is now biting back.
