Buying expensive packs and then only pulling useless cards: This has led to a lot of frustration in Ultimate Team in the past. In FIFA 19, you can now preview, to some extent, what’s in the packs.
Probabilities revealed: Of course, the packs still don’t specifically show you whether one of the 100 best players in the game is included in the set you’re about to buy. But you can view probabilities that give you an indication of what you will pull.
Items with percentage values: The probability of a pack containing players of certain rating categories is displayed in percentages. It shows the minimum chance of an item from the displayed category being included in the pack.
This means: If the probability of a “Gold Player 75+” is at 100%, you will definitely receive a player of at least that category.
In the top official graphic from EA, you can see the chances of top players from a premium gold pack (which costs 7500 coins):
- Gold players rated 75 or higher – 100%
- Gold players rated 82 or higher – 20%
- Gold players rated 84 or higher – 4.5%
The chances of receiving top players rated above 84 are already quite low.
Lower percentage values do not guarantee a top player
How are the numbers calculated? The percentages are calculated by EA Sports based on simulations of massive pack openings. With each update, the numbers are refreshed. A gold pack may have different probabilities at the release of the game than a gold pack four weeks later. A timestamp will always indicate when the last figures were drawn.
Pack openings based on coin toss principle: It’s important to note that the pack openings are not interconnected. Just because you have a 20% chance of a “Gold Player 82+”, it doesn’t mean you will pull one in every fifth pack.
The system is more comparable to a coin toss. While there is a 50% chance of tossing heads, the coin does not guarantee to land on that side every second toss. So be careful when you buy large quantities of packs. You can certainly also try out the new FUT feature in the new web app.
