Queues are a big topic for fans of WoW Classic. So it’s not surprising that many fans want to bypass them. They use many tricks, both unauthorized and quite quirky.
Here’s what’s going on with the queues: Since the release of WoW Classic, the demand for servers has been immense – Blizzard even opened new servers and increased server capacities.
Nevertheless, players trying to log in to full realms like Everlook often find themselves in queues, which can still last several hours.
If someone is AFK for too long, they will get kicked from the game and may have to wait again. It’s no wonder that they try to avoid this by all means.
Anti-AFK: Players’ Tricks
This is how players avoid a kick: Players have devised several tricks to bypass the queues. However, not all of these tricks work, and some are simply not allowed.
Anyone who plays WoW Classic will likely see players mindlessly running against a wall, corner, rocks, or something else. These players usually have “Auto Walk” activated, so they constantly move and don’t get kicked out of the game.
However, this doesn’t really help. As long as no different keys are pressed manually, you still get kicked. It looks funny though.
Other players have instead written macros that click, jump, or perform other actions automatically every few minutes. However, such macros violate the terms of use of WoW Classic, which is why we strongly advise against doing this.
This is how Method tricks the system: The most creative and perhaps strangest method to avoid the AFK kick was devised by the professional guild Method. Method participates in the “World First Race” for Classic and players must reach level 60 as quickly as possible.
To prevent them from being kicked out of the game during breaks, Method simply hired someone to go to all the computers and press the spacebar every few minutes to jump or similar actions. This doesn’t violate the rules but requires… well, let’s just say a “guy”.
Why do players do this? Players prevent their AFK kick for several reasons:
- They want to step away briefly and not waste time in the queues when they come back.
- They belong to the players who want to be the first to reach level 60 and cannot afford to wait in queues.
- They need to sleep, eat, or do other things that can’t be paused.
Other players usually find this less funny and get upset that these people block the servers with their tricks. However, at least for players not participating in the “World First,” there are other tricks to deal with the queues:
