As a loot shooter, Borderlands 3 focuses on coop action. To ensure lone wolves can also enjoy multiplayer, a few nice mechanics have been implemented.
Borderlands 3 is likely to be the game of the year 2019 for many gamers. It promises plenty of action in Pandora (and on other planets) for up to four friends who want to step into the roles of vault hunters.
To ensure the coop mode gets some attention, the developers came up with a few details to make it more exciting. In an interview with GamingBolt, the developers revealed what will make the multiplayer a bit more special than in previous installments.
“Hey, something has popped up for me … let’s hunt and kill it!”
These are the dynamic coop missions: A system referred to as “Rare Spawns” is one example. Borderlands 3 has named its dynamic missions (a sort of side quests) that can appear in the hub.
They work like this: A friend has encountered a specific enemy type while playing. This can trigger the necessary mission to appear in our game. And what better way to go about it than to hunt together with your friend?
This is how friends can help each other: If someone finds a cool weapon – whether in singleplayer or multiplayer – they can easily send it to a friend via the mailbox system. This is especially worthwhile if you know that your friend particularly enjoys a specific type of weapon that you yourself don’t use much.
Also, it feels nice to be able to pull a new weapon out of the mailbox right after starting the game because a friend thought of you.
What about solo players? Nevertheless, players should be able to enjoy Borderlands 3 alone if they want to. Those who do not want to play with others to experience the story “in peace” at their own pace can also do so solo. However, there will be small “multiplayer mechanics” that can still be noticed. For example, at a vending machine, you might see the weapon of another player from your friends list that they have put up for sale – if needed, you can simply buy it.
Moreover, being reminded of your friends at every corner certainly encourages players to play with them. It will probably bring more fun.
Will you play Borderlands 3 in multiplayer? Or will you take on the loot shooter alone on your first run to experience everything at your own pace?
