The 75th anniversary of the end of World War II is approaching. The online game World of Tanks celebrates this with a new PvE mode. Is the game still worth it in 2020?
What kind of mode is this? The “Road to Berlin” is a limited-time PvE event that marks the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2. Until May 18, you will experience exciting battles in and around Berlin.
First, it is necessary to advance to Berlin via the maps Kvelburg, Oder, and Westwall. Only after May 9, shortly after midnight, will you arrive there and fight for the liberation of the city. To do this, five players come together and must accomplish five consecutive objectives:
- Capture Zone A.
- Defend Zone A.
- Capture Zone B.
- Defend Zone B and break through the enemy defenses.
- Eliminate the enemy commanders in the final battle.
As a reward, you can obtain, among other things, the unique Soviet heavy premium tank of tier VII, IS2-S.
An event with problems
What do players think of the event? The event divides the players a bit. Some find it too difficult, others think the rewards are not good enough. However, others are excited about the challenging experience.

The tanks hold the position
What is the current state of World of Tanks? World of Tanks has a loyal community. You will always find enough players for a match. However, players also point out some problems.
- For some, the entry for newcomers is too harsh. There should be bonuses for newcomers so they can quickly catch up to the veterans, and the lower tiers should receive a revamp, as Jak_Atackka notes on reddit.
- Moreover, artillery is repeatedly criticized, which according to players 3ULL is just too annoying.
- According to Loupojka, World of Tanks is still fun, but the grind is a bit too harsh.
In summary, World of Tanks still brings joy to many players, but it also has its problems.
Is the game worth it in 2020? World of Tanks still has plenty of players despite its nearly ten-year age and offers the well-known, fun, and solid tank action. Additionally, new updates with new vehicles, such as the fast wheeled tanks, are continually being released. However, newcomers do find it somewhat challenging, as previously mentioned. Nonetheless, it is a free-to-play game, and everyone can see for themselves whether they enjoy WoT or not.
