The new Borderlands 3 patch is coming tonight and brings the Mayhem 2.0 mode. But the patch notes contain plenty of other new content that will turn the endgame of Borderlands 3 upside down.
When is the Borderlands 3 patch with Mayhem 2.0 coming? The patch is expected to go live on all platforms tonight, by 9:00 PM at the latest. As usual, you will recognize it by the “Hotfixes Applied” banner that appears in the main menu. However, that’s the only thing that is typical about this patch.
Mayhem 2.0 and Cartel Revenge Launch
This is in the patch: As previously announced, Borderlands 3 turns its endgame inside out with the new patch. The Mayhem 2.0 mode launches, transforming the previous 4 Chaos levels into 10 new Mayhem tiers. Additionally, there are over 25 insane modifiers that change the game based on difficulty. For example, there are now giant heads and lava floors!
In addition, the “Cartel Revenge” event starts, sending you on a gangster hunt, which you should prepare for with as much money as possible. It introduces a new location called Villa Ultraviolet that you must reach to take down the cartels.
We have summarized how Mayhem 2.0 and the new event work in detail. But that’s by far not all that is included in the patch.
More Space for Weapons
This is how much space you have now: With the update, the bank and your backpack are expanded. You can now buy more SDUs from Marcus to make room for the many new weapons that have come into the game with the DLCs and events.
- Backpack: Gains 10 more slots
- Bank: Gains 100 more slots
Additionally, the capacity for heavy and sniper ammunition is increased. Here, you can also grab more SDUs from Marcus.
Galactic Loot Event, Moze Buffs, and Bug Fixes
Another event: Besides the cartels, the mini-event “Galactic Loot” is also coming to the game. This is a four-week tour where individual planets will offer better loot in weekly rotation.
You can snag special legendary loot – and the zones on the planets are also sorted by weapon types. The distribution looks as follows:

- Pandora in Week 1 (April 23 to April 30)
- Promethea in Week 2 (April 30 to May 7)
- Eden-6 in Week 3 (May 7 to May 14)
- And Nekrotefayo in Week 4 (May 14 to May 21)
More buffs for Moze and bug fixes: Moze will be further strengthened after several buffs in recent weeks. Some of her skills now provide more health and shield regeneration or receive a damage boost.
Additionally, there are bug fixes on all fronts: both visual and audio bugs are being corrected, as well as faulty effects. Some bugs regarding the skills of the Vault Hunters have also been fixed.
Overall, the game should run more smoothly after the update than before. You can find the complete list of all bug fixes in the official patch notes from Gearbox.
