By default, FIFA 20 is played with assisted controls. However, if you turn off the assistants and play with completely manual controls, you will experience a completely different gameplay experience.
What is it about? FIFA players are used to playing with all kinds of assistants. There are control assistants for shooting, passing, crossing, and many more. When these are activated, most actions are not particularly difficult.
But what happens if you turn off all these aids?
Many players only play “completely manually” and swear by this control method. Virtual football is often described as being more realistic and challenging this way. There are even FIFA communities that don’t play any other way.
Why should you try it? A big argument for manual controls is the new challenge, which most FIFA players normally do not face. Because many mechanisms that you have gotten used to over the years of playing FIFA are thrown out, as everything is much harder with manual controls.
But at the same time, the joy of beautiful passes, crosses, and well-played goals is much greater. This is because you have to play much more precisely and thoughtfully. Achieving a goal with completely manual controls requires a lot of effort.
This is how differently FIFA 20 plays with manual controls
This is how completely manual controls feel: When you have activated manual controls, you will immediately notice that simply pressing the pass or lob button does not reliably bring the ball to your teammate anymore. Instead, the ball often comes up short and lands directly with the opponent.
You have to get used to correctly measuring the shot power. With a simple press, the ball actually rolls only a few meters. It is normal to initially produce many misplaced passes and shoot far over the goal.
However, you also have much more control over the game and can, with some practice, even execute passes and plays that all the assistants would prevent in normal controls.
A venture into the world of manual FIFA controls can therefore be quite worthwhile. Here you can see how realistic FIFA 20 looks with manual controls:
Who is this control for? FIFA players who are looking for a new challenge and want to experience FIFA from a completely new, more realistic angle should give this control option a chance.
Initially, it may be somewhat frustrating, but with some practice, great plays and goals can emerge, which you will be much prouder of because you have worked hard for them.
How do you play manually? There are several ways to compete “completely manually” against other players. Either you find a friend and play in front of a TV, turning off all assistants in the control options.
Or you compete online against other advocates of manual control. In Online Seasons, there is even a dedicated filter that allows you to search only for opponents who also use manual control.
