In Japan, the first regional test for the MOBA Pokémon Unite is currently running ahead of the release in July. MeinMMO shows you how you can still participate.
What is this test about? The test is mainly aimed at assessing the server stability of Pokémon Unite. Nevertheless, you can already get a first impression of the gameplay of the Pokémon MOBA. The arena “Eos Island” is available in the test, and you will engage in a 5v5 battle against other players. You can choose from various Pokémon with different characteristics.

How long does the test run? The test phase started on June 24 and runs until Saturday, June 26 at 11:59 PM, which is 4:00 PM our time. We will show you how you can participate.
Participation despite the Japanese network test for Pokémon Unite
What you need for this: First, you need a Japanese Nintendo Online account. To do this, simply select the appropriate region when creating it. In the video from our colleagues at nintendo-connect, you can also see how this works with Japanese and American accounts:
This is what you need to do afterwards:
- Log in with your Japanese account in the store.
- Through this, you can download the network test for Pokémon Unite.
- You can also find the link here via the Japanese store: store-jp.nintendo.com
- You also need around 1.4 GB of available storage space on your Switch.
Once you have downloaded the network test, you can now also access it with your German account. You can then select Europe (ヨーロッパ) and Germany (ドイツ) as the region.
Although you will have to navigate a bit through the Japanese menu, you should not have any major problems getting at least a glimpse of the game.
Pokémon Unite releases as a free-to-play game on Switch, Android, and iOS
What is Pokémon Unite actually? It is a variant of the well-known MOBA games, thus there are similarities to titles like League of Legends. You choose from a specific number of Pokémon and engage in teams against each other in arenas.
Each Pokémon has certain characteristics and attacks that must be leveled up and unlocked during the match. Numerous Pokémon can also evolve during the game through level-ups.
When is Pokémon Unite coming out? The release for Nintendo Switch is planned for July. The mobile version for Android and iOS will follow in September.
