What kind of weapon is this? The MG42 is an iconic weapon of the German armed forces from World War II. It was introduced in 1942 and was characterized by an extremely high rate of fire. It could fire up to 1,500 rounds per minute, which is extremely high. In comparison, contemporary MGs typically fired around 350 to 400 rounds per minute.
Due to the extreme rate of fire, the individual shots of the MG42 were indistinguishable, earning the weapon the nickname “Hitler’s Buzzsaw” among the Allies. The loadout presented here turns the weapon into a deadly saw in the game, tearing apart everything and everyone with terrifying efficiency.
Powerful machine gun right from the start
What makes the MG42 so powerful? The MG42 offers plenty of upgrades and adjustments that significantly change the weapon. However, those who just randomly attach good-sounding attachments to the MG might end up with a rebellious mule that’s hardly controllable.
Therefore, to achieve an effective setup, you need a well-thought-out mix to create an optimal compromise between damage, accuracy, and controllability. The core of the following setup is the brutal 13mm drum magazine, which gives the weapon an extreme punch but sacrifices much of its accuracy.
But don’t worry, with the following loadout, you compensate for what makes the weapon a real monster that can precisely tear apart enemies from a distance.
What does the MG42 not do well? LMGs in Vanguard are rather sluggish weapons that provide cover for your team. They are not well-suited for wild running around and shooting from the hip.
In close combat, you are at a disadvantage. However, due to the high damage, an opponent should still go down quickly if you pull the trigger in time.

Vanguard: MG42 Loadout for optimum damage and accuracy
What does a strong loadout look like? The core of the loadout here is the powerful 13mm magazine. However, this makes the weapon hardly controllable and significantly reduces precision. Additionally, it blocks your ammunition type, as the 12mm rounds are already something special.
Therefore, it’s necessary to compensate for the magazine’s disadvantages with a clever setup.

As you can see, the entire setup aims to manage the recoil and improve the accuracy of the weapon. With the proficiency “Steady Grip”, the weapon becomes even more accurate during sustained fire. Overall, this setup even provides an improvement in precision compared to the standard version.

With Ghost, you become harder to detect while shredding across the map. Piercing Vision reveals enemies you hit once, and with Sprint Speed, you can quickly change your position.
The 1911 pistol is ideal if you expect close combat or run out of ammunition.
Thanks to the armor from the field equipment, you can withstand a bit more, which is ideal when you are entrenched and firing continuously.
With Thermite, you can control the map even more effectively, and with Stim, you heal yourself quickly.
Who should try the MG? Those who enjoy camping with an LMG in the second line or securing strategically important points will set up with this loadout in their favorite spot and let lead rain.
Thanks to Sprint Speed, you are still relatively mobile and can quickly change positions or keep pace with your teammates at the front.
However, be aware that you are very inaccurate while moving, and it takes a long time to aim the heavy weapon from a sprint. Run-and-gun is not your style here!
