Bethesda has finally taken drastic measures to curb item duping in the online game Fallout 76. Around 400 weapons and armor have been removed from the game, and the community shows satisfaction.
A Blow Against Item Dupers
Bethesda is taking action against duplicated items: Fallout 76 has a problem with item dupers. They exploit glitches in the game to duplicate particularly powerful items, which they then sell on platforms like eBay.
This has resulted in many legendary weapons circulating, which destroy the overall balance. For some time now, Bethesda has been trying to address this issue. However, it has so far been without great success.
Now a “cleansing” has taken place, where the developers deleted “duplicated” weapons that had been identified so far from the game.

What was the result? According to Bethesda, more than 400 weapons and armor were identified as “duplicated” and deleted from the game during maintenance. Any player who owned more than one of those weapons now has only one copy. It didn’t matter whether players duplicated the items themselves or bought them from others.
The developer states that analyses indicate that less than 1 percent of all Fallout 76 accounts had duplicated items. According to Bethesda, this means that a very small portion of players exploited this duping.
The Community is Thrilled
How are the players reacting? After the announcement of this cleansing, initial unease set in. Players feared that items obtained through legitimate means could also be deleted.
Many were unsure whether they owned a duplicated item, especially if they received an item from a friend. There was significant uncertainty.

The uncertainty has since given way to relief. The feared chaos did not occur. Many players even praise the way Bethesda handled this. There were concerns that many of the so-called TSE weapons (Two Shot Explosive) would be removed, but that was not the case.
“I was very cynical about this update, but honestly: well done, and thank you, Bethesda!” says iAxc13 on Reddit.
This is why players are now filled with new hope: It is unusual that after a patch for Fallout 76 there is such a positive atmosphere – especially on Reddit. Players are excited that Bethesda hit exactly the right buttons here.
This has sparked new hope that the developers will indeed implement the changes requested by players. And “save” Fallout 76 in this way.
