The developers of The Witcher have discussed parts 4, 5, and 6 and explained how expensive the new RPGs will be. The Witcher 4 is thus becoming one of the most expensive games ever.
What kind of report is this? Analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski from Noble Securities has examined the financial report from CDProjekt and analyzed it. What is the developers’ plan? According to the analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski, CDProjekt is allocating a budget of around 660 million euros for Witcher 4. Half of the budget is supposed to go to development and the other half to marketing.
According to the official financial report from CDProjekt, the total value of projects in development (including Witcher 4, Sirius, and Cyberpunk 2) was already around 200 million euros as of the third quarter of 2025. In this quarter alone, the studio invested another 32 million euros in development. Further costs may arise in 2026 and 2027.
However, according to the analyst, the budget for Witcher 4 is particularly high. The plan behind it is to create a new foundation for the upcoming Witcher trilogy with Witcher 4. This way, they aim to establish a good basis in terms of engine and systems, which can then also be reused for parts 5 and 6, resulting in significantly lower expenses for the subsequent parts.
With such a high budget, Witcher 4 is still one of the most expensive games in the world and is on par with GTA 6, which according to IGN is expected to cost over a billion, and Star Citizen, which is also rapidly approaching the first billion. It is about 10 times more expensive than Witcher 3, which was estimated to have cost only about 72 million euros.
When is Witcher 4 expected to be released? According to the analyst, the developers at CDProjekt plan the release of Witcher 4 for the fourth quarter of 2027, around the Christmas season. Currently, about 800 developers are said to be working at CDProjekt, with approximately 500 of them already working on Witcher 4, according to playstationinfo.de, to meet the internal timeline.

His analysis focuses more on the economic development of CDProjekt than on game features.
