A highlight in Destiny 2 is the lavish raids that often come with complex mechanics. For newcomers or players who have not been interested in the content before, this can be intimidating. It doesn’t have to be, says the community, and offers valuable tips for the raids.
What is it about? In the Destiny 2 subreddit, user vjr124 shared a great story: he recently joined a group through LFG in the Forsaken raid “Last Wish”. Also present was a young Guardian who had never been in the raid before. However, he was grateful that the experienced players wanted to guide him through the raid and teach him the mechanics.
As vjr124 continues, the young teammate did not behave like most newcomers: instead of just functioning as support and watching the adds, he wanted to learn the raid from top to bottom and master all positions. He said something like, “No matter what I do, it’s all new anyway, so I can do anything!”
This attitude impressed vjr124, and he listed three important tips that all Destiny 2 players should keep in mind in raids.
The raid in the upcoming expansion Shadowkeep takes place in the Black Garden. What you need to know about the location, we have here for you.

What are the tips? vjr124 compiled tips that constitute a good raid mentality for him. These can be applied not only in “Last Wish” but also in all raids in Destiny or even in other games:
- Be ready to learn and fail: Learning the mechanics and failing is the most efficient way to learn a raid. By practicing, one can easily identify problems and learn to prepare for them.
- Talk to each other: It is important to point out when you do not understand mechanics. Equally important is to absorb all information about the raid so that you can be flexible in your role and even teach newcomers.
- Keep trying: Even if the simplest encounters seem insurmountable, the only option is to keep trying. The more you pay attention and actively attempt to learn the methods, the quicker you will gain an understanding of the encounters.

What do the players say? The post by vjr124 is very well received by the Guardians. Many are signing up to contribute their tips or comment on the user’s suggestions. Especially the point that teammates should always talk to each other is very well received.
Bungie has also chimed in on the post: The community manager dmg04 pointed out that players should discuss after each attempt in the raid what worked and what did not. They should feel comfortable asking many questions to understand the flow of the bosses and be able to follow it.
This practice is even followed by the exceptional player Gladd, who usually plays the toughest Destiny content with a drum set.
