Flying in Argus remains a hot topic in the WoW community. Blizzard’s opinion on this is, however, rock solid.
With Patch 7.3, World of Warcraft received the new zone Argus. But even while players were slowly battling through the quest areas Mac’Aree, Antoran Wastes, and Krokuun, they sorely missed one feature: Flying.
Because on the demon-infested homeworld of the Eredar, flying mounts must stay in the stables or at least on the ground of reality.
This already caused multiple outcries in the WoW community. For weeks, part of the players has been demanding that Argus should finally be opened for flying, which has been repeatedly denied.
Flying in Argus? Will never happen!
In the last Developer Q&A with Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, the topic came up once again. A user asked whether flying could be activated in an interim patch – such as 7.3.2 or 7.3.5.
Hazzikostas replied that Argus was created with the certainty that flying there will never be possible. Many places are not completely accessible for good reason. There are no plans to allow flying during or after the Legion expansion in the three Argus areas.
Moreover, it has always been the case that there is at least one zone where flying is not permitted. In Mists of Pandaria, it was the Isle of Thunder and the Timeless Isle; in Cataclysm, for example, Tol Barad. The aim is simply to create a different perception of the game world by not allowing flying everywhere.
In the official forums, there are still numerous threads on this topic. For some players, the inability to fly is an absolute deal breaker, which is why they (according to their statements) strictly avoid Argus and simply do not find any enjoyment in the areas.
What do you think? Should one be allowed to fly in Argus? Or is it good that Blizzard remains true to its plans here?
