The new information from E3 makes players hungry for Anthem. But one question remains: Is there a beta?
The press conference by EA at E3 2018 brought many new insights about Anthem. For instance, there was an initial story trailer for the new BioWare game, and in-game gameplay footage was shown, allowing players to get a first impression of the gameplay. However, one question is burning on the minds of many players: What about signing up for the beta?
Signing up for beta not possible yet. Although the remaining time is less than nine months until release, which is getting a bit tight, there is still no possibility to sign up for the beta. The E3 provided no new information.
Beta only for pre-orderers? Some fans speculate that the early playable demos, which pre-orderers can participate in, are basically beta tests. Here, BioWare could find out how the gameplay or individual game mechanics are received by the fans. However, this is not confirmed. It does sound like a potential bonus. This would also align with earlier statements from the developers.
Financial Call mentioned “player feedback”. Some time ago, EA spoke about the topic in a Financial Call. According to them, they wanted to enable players to “dive into the game early” in order to make improvements based on the feedback. In essence, this only described a beta phase.
At least for the next few months, one should not expect a beta. With a release in February 2019, the topic should come back to light again at the latest in the fall of this year.
