There has been movement in the streaming scene. A new competitor to Twitch with strong connections to gambling is poaching some of Twitch’s biggest streamers. The platform is likely concerned about the MMORPG giants from Twitch, Asmongold (WoW, Diablo 4). For him, the question doesn’t seem to be whether he will switch, but rather how much money he will get for making a switch.
This is the situation:
- The Kick friend Trainwreck announced in March (via twitter) that Kick would present 6 “new arrivals” that would shock Twitch and all friends of Twitch.
- Now, Kick has signed xQc and Amouranth, the biggest streamer and the biggest female streamer. Four more are said to follow, with DrDisrespect and Asmongold being considered possible candidates by many.
- The MMORPG streamer Asmongold has now directly responded to whether he will switch.
“It depends on how much”
Asmongold says: The popular streamer hinted on June 17, after xQc’s switch, that he is extremely busy and has to take care of many things and have many discussions.
Ultimately, he said:
Are we switching platforms? Many people have asked me if I’m going somewhere else. People ask me all the time. Hmm … it depends on how much. So, you know, let’s see what happens. So, yeah. I mean, I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.
These are the promises: Even though Asmongold hesitates to give a clear answer, he gives his viewers two promises in case he switches:
- He will continue to stream consistently – there will be no break
- He will not sign an exclusive deal with other platforms, so he will still be visible on Twitch, even if he spends most of his time on Kick or YouTube
This is what it’s about: This is the same answer that all major streamers actually give, MontanaBlack responded very similarly.
It comes down to the streamers saying: “Yes, I might switch, but the money has to be right.” After all, Twitch is a reliable source of income through Prime subscriptions and regular viewers. If streamers leave this safe harbor and venture into uncharted waters, there needs to be a significant amount of money waiting. Ideally enough money to change their life forever and eliminate any risk.
The tweet came immediately after the deal with xQc was announced:
With this answer, “It depends on how much they offer me,” streamers keep all options open and want to increase their market value. Ultimately, streamers are individual businesses and closely observe what the competition is doing and who is making how much.
If Asmongold knows that xQc is worth $70 million guaranteed and $30 million as a bonus from Kick, he will take that as a guideline when he negotiates with Kick himself.
Right now, there is a lot of money in the air, which everyone can perceive, including Asmongold.
