With the latest PTR patch for Overwatch on June 5, the moon colony Horizon has a new setup. Blizzard has opened a completely new room where hints about the next hero might be found.
Hints about Hammond: With the revision of the moon colony Horizon, the quarters of test subject 8 have been opened. Its inhabitant has been named Hammond by the test supervisors. Hammond is one of the gorillas that lived in the moon colony, but since the ape uprising on Horizon, there have been no reports of them.
The other gorilla is Winston, whose story and whereabouts are already known. Hammond could therefore still receive his own backstory.
What speaks for Hammond as the next hero?
According to the new layout of the moon colony Horizon, the rooms of Winston and Hammond are right next to each other. One can assume that both escaped together during the uprising.
A escape plan is in the room: Hammond’s room is wrecked, and some things are scattered on the floor or in his sleeping cell. However, two things stand out:
- A blueprint outlining a escape plan from the moon to Earth with an escape pod and a rope
- and a toy spaceship with a ball attached by a string.
The plan looks as if Winston wanted to take Hammond with him. However, since there was only room for one gorilla in the escape pod, Hammond could have traveled in an attached capsule to reach Earth. It is also possible that Hammond devised this plan himself, and Winston was unaware of it.
It’s time for a teaser: The last hero, Brigitte, was released on March 20. Following the rough schedule that Blizzard usually adheres to for releases, it would soon be time to tease the next hero again.
With the renovation of the moon colony Horizon, the opportunity has arisen. The fact that Hammond’s room was added, which has no significant impact on the game’s events, fuels the theories even more.
What do you think? Will Hammond be the next hero, or will Blizzard lead us astray again? Leave us a comment!
