Players at max level currently have a mandatory task in WildStar if they want to be as efficient as possible: Every week, 140 additional level-ups must be earned to obtain the valuable Ancestor Gems.
These gems can be used, among other things, to purchase additional VIP and ability points, which have a significant impact on PvP. Characters that have been at level 50 for weeks have significantly more talent points than fresh level 50s. Theoretically, these extra points can also be found in the game world, for example, as loot from enemies; practically, however, they are almost non-existent – and that is exactly what is about to change.
The additional enhancement points can be obtained from many more sources in the game starting with an upcoming patch. Each endgame reputation faction will sell an additional VIP point, while the reputation vendor in the Rotting Sanctuary will sell an ability point. If a veteran dungeon is completed in Gold, the group is guaranteed to receive a VIP or ability point (which will then be rolled for) – this will bring “Goldruns” back into focus. These rewards will also be integrated into the path system; at path rank 15, there is a VIP point and at 30 an ability point. Lastly, the original sources of these items will be changed: One should occasionally be able to obtain both types at level 50, for example, when completing daily quests and from the PvP reward chests, an upgrade will now occasionally find its way into your inventory.
In summary, this means that Ancestor Gems no longer have to be forcibly spent on these two improvements, but can also be used for gear or housing items – moreover, fresh level 50s can catch up faster and are just as useful as the veterans – at least in terms of raw talent point count.
There is currently no release date for the patch, but it is expected to arrive “soon” – presumably before the next content update.
