The servers of the MMORPG WildStar have been shut down. The colorful world of Nexus no longer exists.
Yesterday, on 28.11.2018, the last day for the MMORPG WildStar had arrived. As announced, this was the day when the servers for WildStar were to be shut down. And that is exactly what happened.
On the last day, Nexus was quite well visited. Many players returned for the final hours to stroll on the side of the Dominion or the Exiles across the planet, complete a few challenges, or simply spend the last hours with beloved friends.
5 minutes before the official end, there was a server message that can be translated as follows:
“This is your friendly reminder for COMPLETE DESTRUCTION in 5 minutes. We hope you enjoyed your stay and fulfilled your dreams here on the planet Nexus.”
During the last minutes, players gathered, and some developers also joined to wait together for the end of the world. This is illustrated by this YouTube video from Paul Buckley:
How is the community reacting? At least on Reddit for WildStar, there is great sorrow, and many players talk about their pleasant experiences they had in the game, and that the farewell was tougher than initially thought. There are also rows of screenshots that take a melancholic look at the farewell.

However, there are also a few rather amused posts stating, “Man, WildStar is simply unplayable in this state!” This particularly drew some “too soon” reactions.
Have you seen the story that WildStar never got to tell?
Why did WildStar fail? There were many reasons for WildStar’s failure. Many players just couldn’t come to terms with the “hardcore” mentality of the game as they initially thought they would. Also, the promised content updates were long overdue; developers and quality assurance simply couldn’t keep the promises. Additionally, numerous bugs and issues with game mechanics plagued WildStar.
Rest in peace, WildStar. I will never forget your housing and the associated role-playing.
We asked how WildStar could have been successful – and you answered.
