Group Activities: Adventures, World Bosses, Dungeons, Raids, and PvP
Those who prefer playing in fixed groups will find plenty to enjoy in WildStar (which isn’t expensive at all under Free2Play). A variety of activities are available, from 5-player to 20-player groups, there is something for everyone.
As the first step on the endless spiral of gear, experienced adventures are often the starting point for most groups. Quick coordination and communication are often necessary here, as the small instances are dynamic and adapt to players. To achieve a high rating, the team must work well together.
At the same time, adventures forgive small mistakes and thus offer enough room to lead the group successfully to victory. Even if you might not achieve the highest possible rating, a visit often comes with the first item upgrades.
If you don’t like small opponents, then you should find 19 other players and venture out into the world to find and slay the World Bosses. These have recently been completely revamped and are now always designed for level 50. They offer some cool items, like rare mounts or decorations, and of course, some flashy purple items that boost character stats to new heights.
There is no upper limit to the number of participants for these bosses, so even inexperienced players can easily join in and blow the life lights out of the giants to celebrate early successes.
Significantly tougher are the experienced dungeons. Although they have been made much more accessible with the Free2Play update, they are still not a stroll in the park. Many bosses and even trash mobs can take out careless players in just one or two hits. If you do not react quickly enough to the various mechanics or think you can still cast that “one spell” in the enemy’s red telegraph, you’ll quickly find yourself on the literal ground of reality.
If you don’t have enough friends available, you can conveniently access the dungeons (like almost all group content in the game) via the content finder, but you should have already optimized your gear. Strangers tend to be rather direct and let you know how much they dislike when there are no runes on their gear.
If all this is too easy for you, then jump into WildStar’s infamous raids. The raids are not for faint-hearted players who already throw in the towel after the first virtual death. Every victory requires hard work and it doesn’t hurt to research the different bosses online in advance, as some encounters can take a good 15 minutes, going through several phases that each have their own tricks and habits.
The death of just one teammate can result in lack of damage or the tank falling due to insufficient healing. Preparation is a must here – it’s best to ask an acquaintance who has already completed it.
If you can’t get into smashing NPCs, you can also give your fellow players a good beating in PvP. As is typical for the genre, there are arenas for smaller groups and larger battlefields where up to 30 players can show off who has the highest item level (and admittedly, the greatest skill).
Particularly ambitious skirmish enthusiasts can also create their own war party to craft a “Warplot” and participate in a large battle where their own fortress must be defended and the enemy’s must be conquered. Vendors for PvP gear can be found in the capital, and an entry set costs just a few platinum coins to give newcomers quick access.
