Carbine Studios, the developers of the unfortunate online role-playing game WildStar, are apparently working on a new game. This is at least indicated by job postings that the company recently published.
Carbine Studios is the development studio behind the colorful and ambitious online role-playing game WildStar. This game has unfortunately been on the list of endangered MMORPGs for years, but development on the game continues.
However, it seems that WildStar is no longer the only project of Carbine.
Carbine – New Developers for New Team
If you go to Carbine’s homepage and look for job openings, you will currently find four of them. Carbine is currently looking for the following experts:
- Lead Combat Designer
- Senior Concept Artist
- Senior Graphics Engineer
- Senior Tools Engineer
All of these positions relate to experienced leadership roles in their respective fields, and concept artists and combat designers are often needed in the early stages of development. Therefore, it is very likely that these new employees will be working on a completely new project and not just developing the next update for WildStar.
Additionally, the job description always refers to “this new Team,” another hint that Carbine likely has a new iron in the fire.
Will Carbine’s new game also be an MMO?
However, details about the new Carbine team and its project are still nowhere to be found. The advertised positions could certainly fit an online role-playing game, but a combat designer is just as likely for a MOBA or an action RPG.
Let’s just hope that Carbine’s new game won’t be the final nail in the coffin of WildStar. The colorful MMORPG and once hopeful contender was recently not even represented as its own line in the quarterly figures of publisher NCSoft due to poor revenues.
