In WildStar there will soon be fresh incentives to continue enhancing characters even at max level. The Primal Matrix is the new “endgame carrot”.
WildStar will make significant changes to the character development of our heroes in the upcoming Update 1.7. Those who fear for their strength can rest assured – the new system is additional and available to all heroes starting from max level 50. To gain further power, characters will need to visit Drusera and unlock their Primal Matrix. However, it will not easily reveal its bonuses; it requires a lot of essences to be fed – so there is plenty of work ahead.
In total, there are four different essences, of which three are “common” (red, green, and blue) and one is rare (purple). The essences can be found for almost all content in the game – including daily quests, dungeons, and adventures, as well as PvP. Different content offers different essences. However, this keeps rotating. If there were red essences for PvE initially, there could be red essences for PvP the next day. This way, players are never forced into content they are not interested in.
The essences can then be invested in matrix fields that unlock additional character bonuses. Once a complete node of 6 points is completed, one can move to the next (if enough purple essence is available) to gain further bonuses. The further one moves away from the center (the starting point), the more expensive new unlocks become.
All unlocked matrix fields together provide a value of “Heroism” that serves as a guideline for how strong your character is. For the new “Overwhelming Dungeons,” one will refer to this heroism.
The system is designed for long-term and sustained progress. So, nobody should expect to have completed the Primal Matrix in just a few weeks. It will likely take several months, especially since the system can be relatively easily expanded.
