Due to its combat system, WildStar would be well suited for console – now the Product Director spoke on this topic.
Telegraph Madness on Console?
Jumping over the TV as Aurin and blowing up little Rowsdowers as Chua with the gamepad? In an interview with Gamespot, Mike Donatelli, the Product Director of WildStar, was asked about the topic of console porting. “That would make sense,” was the somewhat surprising reply. “We have seen many MMOs now that have successfully launched a console version.”
While he doesn’t give a concrete confirmation, it is definitely a hint: “Without wanting to say too much, it is safe to claim that a successful MMO, which wants to become even more successful, considers a console version.” Those dreaming of blasting miserable Dominions from the planet with their Playstation 4 should perhaps take a step back. “Maybe we will do it one day, but first we need to completely get our home platform under control.”
He is right about that, as not much has been happening on the PC version of WildStar since the Free2Play transition – despite expanding the servers, the game is still struggling with the current influx, with lags and long waiting times being the consequence.
WildStar on console sounds like very far-off music for now. Personally, I find the housing system with a gamepad quite difficult anyway and would probably throw more than one against the wall. But until Carbine fixes the current problems of the PC version, no one should expect an implementation of the idea.
