The Wild West is calling – better stay away
Here’s how to get involved: If you want to check out the Western MMO, just visit the Steam page for WWO and download the client for €29.99. Create an account and you’re in. However, there are quite a few warning signs:
What are the initial reactions? The reviews on Steam are currently “mostly negative.” The few positive reviews, however, mention some potential that exists. The following issues are especially criticized:
- Character creation – There are too few options for creating an individual hero. Most characters look very similar.
- Introduction – The game explains too little, there’s no tutorial, no starting quest. As a player, you don’t know what to do at all.
- Graphics – Players criticize the lack of detail and clunky animations. The graphics are compared to games from 2006.
- Connection errors – There are frequent disconnections that curiously cause players to find themselves in other areas of the game world after logging in.
- Microtransactions – The smaller packages in the in-game shop don’t offer enough content, making it so one is practically forced to spend more money if they really want to gain an advantage from the microtransactions.
- A lot of bugs – Even the controls and UI are reportedly buggy.
German translation of Wild West Online is heavily criticized
- German translation – The German texts are poorly translated. For example, some German items have incorrect names, causing some quests to be uncompletable.
- Missing content – Players complain that despite the official release, many promised content such as bounty hunting is not available in the game, and WWO feels more like an alpha.
Unfinished, buggy, too little content – a disgrace

- Keule writes: “I suspect that they are still trying to cash in on this and that the game won’t be developed further. Especially after the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2. I hope I’m wrong. But I advise people to stay away from the game until more content is released.”
- Chum Lee says: “I would like to give a thumbs up….but there is honestly nothing positive about the game…. how can you go into the release phase with soooo little content? It remains an absolute mystery to me!!!”
- Press_Enter thinks: “I was already very disappointed in Early Access, but to release something like this is more than cheeky.”
How are the developers responding to the criticism? The developers thank players for their feedback and state that they are continuing to work on content, bug fixes, and improvements. They advise all players to contact the team via email as this is the quickest way to provide feedback.
