Wild Rift is the mobile version of the popular game League of Legends and will soon launch its beta in Europe. In this article, we summarize all the information about gameplay, release, and champions.
League of Legends: Wild Rift is the mobile version of the popular MOBA. It was announced in October 2019 and is expected to start its beta in Germany later in 2020. Additionally, Wild Rift is planned to be released on consoles later.

The start of the open beta in Germany was announced for December 10, 2020. Everyone can join this beta already. The full release will take place no sooner than 2021.
Yes, like LoL itself, Wild Rift will be free and will use a shop where champions and skins are sold.
You can download the new game from the Google Play Store or from the Apple App Store but only after the release. Currently, you can only pre-register.
For Android, you need at least:
– 1.5 GB RAM
– A Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor
– An Adreno 306 GPU
For iOS, you need:
– An iPhone 6 or newer
For a while, it was possible to play via VPN from our region. However, Riot announced in a new blog post in November that they will now block VPN access from regions not approved for testing.
In the original announcement for Wild Rift it was mentioned that console versions will launch shortly after the mobile release. No recent information is available on this.

What Wild Rift offers: Modes and Champions
What game modes does Wild Rift offer? As in League of Legends itself, Wild Rift revolves around the map “Summoner’s Rift”. There are different modes:
- Normal – Each player picks the champion they like
- Ranked – Ranked matches where you register for a fixed position
- Co-op vs. AI – Play against bots
- Custom – Own lobbies where you can play with friends or other players.
Additionally, Wild Rift offers a training mode where you can test different champions and items. In there, cooldowns can also be removed and other adjustments can be made to experiment freely.
How does Ranked work? To participate in ranked matches, you must first reach Level 10 in Wild Rift. However, there is no specific number of champions required, unlike in the PC game.
The mobile version also does not use League Points (LP). Instead, you progress through a win/loss counter. The ranks are:
- Iron
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Emerald
- Diamond
- Master
- Grandmaster
- Challenger
You can also play ranked with your friends, optionally with 2, 3, or 5 players. However, there is no distinction between solo/duo/flex queues.
What champions does LoL Wild Rift have? Just like in LoL itself, there are a certain number of champions that are available for free. However, those who want access to all 47 champions must unlock them, either using in-game or real money currency.

Are there any other features? Unlike in League of Legends, there are daily login rewards in Wild Rift. These require you to complete at least one game per day within a specified time frame.
Through the login rewards, you can unlock Blue Essences, stickers, and even champions. In a video by YouTuber Healthcliff Gaming, Miss Fortune can be seen as a reward for Day 3 and the Cowgirl skin on Day 8:
New champions and many balance adjustments after beta launch
How do the beta and release of Wild Rift work? In July 2020, the first regions in Asia were invited to test Wild Rift. The tests there were immediately made public.
Over time, new regions were invited to the tests, including South Korea, Japan, and Indonesia. On December 10, we will join from Europe along with Russia and Turkey.
Finally, Wild Rift will be unlocked for North America. This is expected to happen in Spring 2021.
What has happened since the beta launch?
- The new champion Lee Sin was added with Patch 1.0
- There have been several balance patches to make the game and champions more balanced. There is expected to be a patch every two weeks, just like in LoL itself.
- Riot has explained in several blog posts how difficult the game’s balancing is because players are already differently experienced.

When will the actual release of Wild Rift take place? When the beta ends and Wild Rift officially launches is currently unknown. However, it is expected to happen no sooner than a few weeks after the beta launch in North America. 2021 seems realistic based on the current status of the game.
How Wild Rift is received
In some regions of the world, LoL: Wild Rift is already very popular. As the Wild Rift News Twitter account reported, the game has achieved top rankings in download charts in several countries, including Myanmar, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Even here in Germany, you can already check ratings from the App Store. As of November 20, the game has 4/5 stars with 14,300 ratings. However, there are criticisms regarding technical issues, disconnects, and long loading screens.
However, it should be noted that Wild Rift is still in beta.
