In Pokémon GO trainers notice a change that suddenly makes their free daily box much stronger. However, there is uncertainty whether this is really intended by Niantic.
What is this box? Every day you can pick up a free box in the Pokémon GO shop. It contains a few items like Poké Balls that are supposed to help you on your adventures.
Why should you wait to open it? Trainers report that the contents of the boxes change. What is inside early in the morning changes for the better throughout the day. They share screenshots and report how much better the contents have become.
Free box with Knursp and Upgrades?
This is what the players say: On reddit, players report that their free boxes have unexpectedly been upgraded. Player Asleep_Fee_8535 writes that for three consecutive days the following scenario occurred: “I look at it [the box] in the morning, it has normal stuff. Look again later and it’s got 3 Knursp and 4 upgrades in it.” As proof, the trainer shows a screenshot on reddit:
- With a Knursp you directly boost the mood of your buddy Pokémon, which means its hunger depletes less quickly – plus, you enhance the amount of hearts that can be earned with the buddy per day
- With Upgrades you can evolve Pokémon like Porygon
Some players comment on the post on reddit and agree that they can observe similar upgrades. While the box changes for some of them as well, they do not always contain the desired Knursp.
- “Don’t get too excited. My box changes to Ultra Balls, Potions, and Upgrades,” explains WHRocks
- “Same here. A boring box in the morning and 4 Upgrades and 3 Knursp in the late afternoon. Let’s hope they don’t fix this, lol.”
- “I tried this yesterday,” writes scrapnmama. “Mine changed from 3 Poké Balls and a Hyper Potion to 5 Ultra Balls, 2 Super Potions, 5 Hyper Potions, and 2 Nanab Berries.”
A specific time for when the contents change has not yet been identified by trainers. It is suspected to occur in the late afternoon in the local time.
Is this intentional? That is the big question that trainers are now asking. A bug in the game or intentional? Since there has been no announcement from Niantic regarding a change of this kind, it is assumed that it is either a test or a bug.
Try it out yourself and leave your free box until the afternoon. It’s best to take a screenshot of it in the morning and then, after the change in the afternoon, let us know in the comments what items you received.
