The Darkrai raids are coming to Pokémon GO, and it’s rare for a raid boss to be so worthwhile. We’ll tell you why you should do as many raids as possible.
When does Darkrai come? During the Halloween event, the mysterious Pokémon will be found in raids. From October 17 to November 1, you can battle it.
Darkrai will be incredibly useful. It is one of the best raid bosses ever, making every single pass worthwhile.
How strong will Darkrai be in Pokémon GO
What do its stats say? First, let’s take a look at Darkrai’s stats to get a rough idea of how strong it will be:
- Attack value: 285
- Defense value: 198
- HP value: 172
- Max CP: 3739
Among Dark-type attackers, Darkrai has the highest attack value of all Pokémon, by a large margin. After that comes Trikephalo with an attack value of 256.
But the other stats are solid as well. Competitors like Snibunna or Absol will be defeated much faster. They have a weaker defense value. Therefore, it is definitely the best Dark-type Pokémon.
That’s why Darkrai is so important for your team: The Dark type is often used and is therefore incredibly important. Especially against the numerous Psychic Pokémon found in legendary raids, Darkrai can always be utilized effectively.
Mewtwo has a better attack value and deals more neutral damage. However, it can only be used rarely, as the Psychic type is only effective against Fighting and Poison. Darkrai is better in this regard because Dark type is effective against Psychic and Ghost, of which significantly more Pokémon can be found in raids.
Here, it offers a good alternative: Darkrai can learn not only Dark-type charge moves but also Shadow Ball, which is a Ghost-type move. This move deals more base damage than the Dark-type moves.
You can effectively use both Dark and Ghost against Psychic Pokémon. Thus, you can use Darkrai with the moves Feint and Shadow Ball as one of the top counters against, for example, Mewtwo. The moves complement each other perfectly.
What does that mean for you? Darkrai is a Pokémon that should definitely not be missing from your battle team. It is particularly useful in many raids and will be needed more often than Pokémon like Mewtwo.
You should make good use of the 2 weeks and do as many raids as possible. By the way, it works well in threes, so you don’t need too many players.
So far, it is not known when Darkrai will return. It is a mysterious Pokémon, which makes its appearance in regular raids rather odd.
Such Pokémon have only been available in EX raids or special research (the week when Deoxys was in normal raids is the exception here). Who knows whether Darkrai will even return to normal raids after this.
