On Thursday, Battlefield 5 is finally getting fresh content – in the form of the new map Mercury. This brings the war to the Mediterranean and lets you fight in a picturesque island setting.
Why should you check it out again? Have you been neglecting Battlefield 5 lately and are waiting for fresh content? Or are you still playing regularly but would be glad if some fresh winds come into the game?
Then you should check out Battlefield 5 again starting May 30th. Because on that day, there will finally be new content. The game will get a new setting – the new Mediterranean map Mercury, which DICE has now extensively presented with a trailer and its own blog. And it is well received; fans are excited about the first images.
Mercury – What’s in the new map of Battlefield 5
This is the setting of the new Mercury map: The setting is based on the historical events surrounding Operation “Mercury” in 1941. It is the first large-scale airborne operation in military history, where German troops captured the Greek island of Crete.
The map is set along the coast of Crete, where British troops must defend against the attacking Germans.
This is how the new map plays: The gameplay on the medium-sized map Mercury primarily emphasizes verticality and asymmetric troop distribution. British troops have tanks, but only a few aircraft available. The Germans, on the other hand, have air superiority over the island.
Fighting occurs between houses in close quarters and at various heights on the numerous rocky slopes of the map, causing the gameplay tempo to vary depending on the combat location. Players can choose to fight as a pilot, tank crew, or infantryman, depending on their preference.

The new map simply looks stunning, and everyone can hardly wait to jump into the battles there, that is the general consensus. It definitely ranks among the best maps of Battlefield 5, according to numerous users.
Moreover, DICE LA is celebrated by fans who were involved in creating this map. The studio from Los Angeles had already “saved” Battlefield 4, and now there is hope that they can turn things around with Battlefield 5 as well.
What do you think of the new map at first glance? Will you check out Battlefield 5 again on Thursday?
