Halloween 2018 takes place in Guild Wars 2 from October 16 to November 6. Let’s look at why Halloween 2018 in Guild Wars 2 is particularly worth it: the highlight is the return of the PvP game mode “Grinning Reaper”. We can also look forward to beetle races and new skins.
What’s new for the Halloween event? Halloween brings us two new activities this year:
- On one hand, ArenaNet is introducing a beetle race that the community is very excited about. It is expected to take place on the returning PvP map.
- On the other hand, there will be a special collection revolving around the rivalry of the Mad King Thorn and Palawa Joko.
The website Massively revealed that this collection will only be unlocked upon completing the Episode 3 Living World Season 4.

MOBA mode returns to Guild Wars 2 after 6 years
The returning PvP mode: This year, the Grinning Reaper, a MOBA-like PvP game, is also making a comeback. The last time this mode could be played was in 2012, at the very first Halloween event.
After that, it was out for many years due to technical issues. It will be interesting to see if ArenaNet has possibly incorporated gameplay changes.

New weapons and miniatures
Three spooky Halloween skins: Massively has also announced the introduction of three new weapon skins. They include
- a syringe as a dagger
- an axe as a hatchet
- and a lightning rod as a sword.
For all weapons, ArenaNet is apparently drawing inspiration from actual weapons in horror films. We will tell you how to earn them after the event is released.
New miniature companions: This year, there will again be new miniatures that players can earn. These include a ghostly raven and a new pumpkin lantern. Presumably, these will again hide as rare items in the trick-or-treat bags.

General Halloween activities
What else to expect at the Halloween event? The usual activities from previous years are also included this year. These include the clock tower and the maze of the Mad King.
Additionally, Lion’s Arch will be eerily decorated and the mad king Thorn will play with you every even hour in the plaza. The “Descent into Madness”, which returned in 2016, where you can fight Thorn, is also included.

The trick-or-treat bags, which can be dropped by all opponents, are just waiting to be farmed by you. Maybe you will get lucky and get one of the rare skins?
Speaking of rare – here we tell you everything about the new armor:
