Warframe is known for strange and absurd things. So it is not really surprising that there are now automatic vacuum robots that are surprisingly popular with players.
What is the deal with the vacuum robots in Warframe? With the new Update Jovian Concord for Warframe came a new item for your spaceship. The Domestic Drones. They are essentially nothing else but automatic vacuum robots. Players have already affectionately named them “Space Roombas,” after the market-leading manufacturer of vacuum robots in real life.
Why are the vacuum robots so popular? The vacuum robots drive around in your lovingly decorated spaceship and keep it clean (although the ship doesn’t actually get visibly dirty). Otherwise, they do nothing apart from making noise.
But players have noticed that the little robots have cute little “happy face” emojis on their displays when they are working. After all, they are products of the greedy Corpus corporation, which has hardwired “fun in mindless cleaning” into the programming of the drones.
Bug causes hordes of Space Roombas
How to get such a vacuum drone: The Domestic Drone can only be obtained via the cash shop or by trading with other players. At 100 platinum, the cute robots cost just under 5 euros. So if you don’t have a lot of money to spare, you probably won’t have too many of the drones.
Still, players post pictures with dozens of these cute little companions online. What’s going on?
This is how players populate their ships with countless “Space Roombas”: If you want to buy an item in Warframe, you can also see a preview of what it will look like in the game.
This means that there is actually a small vacuum robot zooming around your ship just like in the original. And now imagine that you request this preview over and over again.
Then you quickly have a horde of cute little Space Roombas that keep your ship clinically clean like a herd of metallic cleaning fanatics. And they make a hell of a noise.
Still, players think it’s cool and post pictures and videos of their Space Roomba experiences online.
It just leaves the question of what your Space Cats say about it and whether Kavats react similarly to vacuum cleaners as real cats do.
