In The Elder Scrolls Online can the new Necromancer be tried out on the test server. The new class is well received by players.
Since mid-April, you can Elsweyr, the upcoming addon for ESO, live on the test server. There you can try out raids, the new area of Elsweyr, the Khajiit, and the new class Necromancer.
The players are particularly fond of the Necromancer.
The Necromancer on the test server
This is how the Necromancer is received by fans: The general feedback on the test server about the Necromancer is positive. Fans seem to have received exactly what they wished for: a fun class that spreads the dark flair of the Necromancer while providing enough variety compared to the other hero types.
This was also the goal of the developers, who did not simply want to create the wizard with a few undead pets for the ESO Necromancer. Therefore, the comments in the forum are largely positive:
- “The class is aesthetically pleasing. I just wish there were more models for zombies and skeletons to choose from.”
- “I love the class and the mini-game [with the corpses] and the style of all abilities.”
- “The Necromancer is a well-designed class that is a lot of fun.”
This is what players say about the skills: The Necromancer has three skill trees, each reflecting the roles of Tank, Damage Dealer, and even Healer. Just the last aspect excites many fans on Reddit:
- “The healing skill tree is perfect, and I prefer to play as a healer! Soon I can be a life-giving Necromancer while my sister is a guardian who brings death. Our enemies will tremble in fear due to the thematic confusion!”
Additionally, there is great appreciation that many of the skills can be switched to stamina. Most ranged and spell skills use Magicka and staffs. Therefore, a stamina class is highly welcome among many players.
Corpses as a Controversial Topic
This is what the community also likes about the Necromancer: The gameplay involving corpses is particularly well received. Many players see it as a great change of pace and a kind of mini-game.
Many of the Necromancer’s skills require corpses to unleash their full potential. This, in turn, requires careful positioning, especially in raids and dungeons.
Also, the fact that many skills create corpses has been well received. However, some players refer to this feature as too fiddly.
These are the points of criticism: Not everything is well received. Many players complain about the mini-game of corpses. It is generally liked, but there are still comments:
- “The corpses do not stay long enough for them to be used meaningfully.”
- “The corpses disappear too quickly, which makes the whole mini-game less fun.”
Other players in the forum, however, do not find this at all:
- “You shouldn’t be able to carpet the floor with corpses; that would take the whole skill out of context!”
