The cloud service Pokémon Home has launched and will bring benefits for players of Pokémon GO in the future. We show you what is currently known and what the service brings to trainers.
What is Pokémon Home? This service allows you to manage your monsters from all current Pokémon games in a cloud. You can:
- trade worldwide with other players
- store them there
- or transfer them from one game to another.
Pokémon Home was introduced back in summer 2019.
Pokémon GO currently does not have access to the service, but that is expected to follow soon. After that, Pokémon GO is also expected to benefit from some advantages.
These advantages Pokémon GO could have from the cloud service
New Shinys have appeared: With the introduction of Pokémon Home, the developers have tweaked the Shinys. Now there are generally the Shinys of all Formeo forms. Until now, you could only catch the Shiny of the normal Formeo in every Pokémon game.
This introduction is likely to have an impact on Pokémon GO sooner or later. After all, Shiny Formeo already exists there, and the three other shiny forms might be introduced soon.
Perhaps Niantic will also take the release of Pokémon Home for their app as an opportunity. After all, there were events around the releases of Sword and Shield and Let’s GO, Pikachu/Eevee.
All Pokémon at a glance: If you play other Pokémon games in addition to Pokémon GO, you might know the problem: Where did I catch which Pokémon again? Pokémon Home provides you with an overview and shows which monsters you have caught where.
If you are missing a special Pokémon in one game, you can see it directly and perhaps even trade it over.
Trading with other Pokémon games: So far, it is still unclear which other games Pokémon GO can trade with. Until now, monsters could be transferred from Pokémon GO to the Let’s GO games. The other way around is still not possible.
However, it is likely that Pokémon Home will provide this option in the future. After all, it has all current games in view and can swap Pokémon between other games.
This would be a great opportunity to bring the Galar Pokémon from Sword and Shield to Pokémon GO. There is currently only Galar-Smogmog available there. The other Galar Pokémon might be obtainable through a trade.
This would be similar to Meltan and the Let’s GO games. If you send a monster from Pokémon GO, you will receive a Mystery Box that contains Meltan in return. The Pokémon cannot be received multiple times in any other way.
So, will it be worthwhile? Pokémon Home has already brought the shiny versions of the Formeo forms and will sooner or later bring new Shinys to Pokémon GO.
If Pokémon Home also promotes trading between the app and other Pokémon games, it can become really important for trainers.
When will Pokémon Home be released for Pokémon GO? So far, nothing is known about this. It is only said that it should be “soon”. We will have to wait a bit longer.
