What the new shield can do
According to the YouTuber Matimi0, these three aspects of the shields have changed:
- You can now block passages: The shields now fit directly on door thresholds, completely blocking the passage. Previously, there were annoying gaps between the shield and door frame, through which you could be shot in the worst case. That is no longer the case.
- You are no longer blind: So you won’t sit cluelessly behind the shield and miss what the enemy is doing, there are now several view slots in the shield through which you can peek. They are bulletproof, but the enemy can also look through. A glass with one-way view, through which only you could see, was ultimately too strong.
This no longer works: The view slots also prevent you from camping behind the shield permanently and hiding. This also prevents the tactic of sitting safely behind the shield and deploying drones. Now the opponent knows through a quick peek through the slots if someone is camping behind or not.
Therefore, the shield is still better: Nevertheless, Matimi0 is confident that the shield has become overall better and more useful. Because just being able to look through the slot gives the defender a huge advantage, as they can quickly take cover and put the enemy under fire.
And thanks to the new, precise placement, strategic points can now be defended much better than before. Also, hatches that you have blown up are now easier to protect when you place a shield above and can recognize and fire upon the enemy early.
