Since Title Update 4, the new specialization – the Gunner – is available in The Division 2. However, not everyone is pleased with the marksman. Particularly the unlock process has sparked some heated debates.
What is the deal with the marksman? The marksman, or the Gunner, is the first post-launch specialization in The Division 2, essentially representing the 4th class of the game. It was recently introduced with the Title Update 4.

Why the debates? Although some are excited about the marksman and are already playing it, not everyone is satisfied with the new Gunner. The issue lies in the way the new specialization is unlocked.
While Year Pass holders have immediate access to the new specialization, all other players need to put in considerable effort to unlock the marksman at all.
For them, the Gunner is tied to a wide range of different tasks that will likely require a significant amount of time and effort. For owners of the Year-1-Pass, however, the quest line is purely optional; they only receive some additional cosmetics from it.

What do the fans say? This “division” is currently being discussed by many fans – even here with us at MeinMMO.
Numerous players are annoyed and feel that Massive has significantly exaggerated the requirements for unlocking the new class.
Some even go so far as to say that Massive deliberately designed the grind to be overly tough to push more players to buy the Year Pass. Because this way, the specialization is available immediately, and all the annoying grind is spared. And that’s exactly what some players have claimed to be doing.
Even some Year-1-Pass holders say it has “paid off” for that reason alone. Because they wouldn’t want to endure that annoying grind otherwise. In general, many agents without a Year Pass believe that given the effort, they won’t even attempt to unlock the new specialization.
Some were looking forward to it, but see no reason to return to The Division 2 under these circumstances, as there is otherwise no truly new content.
Others, on the other hand, do not understand the critics’ objections and are looking forward to the challenges associated with unlocking the Gunner. They find them to be well-designed, relatively easy to master, and offering enough incentives to tackle them.
What do you think about the whole thing? Are the requirements for unlocking the marksman acceptable? Or do you think Massive has clearly gone overboard as well? Are you playing the Gunner? Or are you leaving the new specialization aside?
