After the announcement of Diablo 4, many fans are now wondering when the game will actually be released. There are no specific dates yet. However, platforms are already known. This has led to speculation.
This is what Blizzard says about consoles: In an interview, Lead Game Designer Joe Shely and Senior Game Producer Tiffany Wat discussed the platforms on which Diablo 4 is expected to be released (via express).
In the interview, it is stated that “currently, only PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC” are planned as release platforms for Diablo 4. Crossplay is even a topic. There have been no statements regarding the Nintendo Switch yet.
What about PS5 and Xbox Scarlett? However, the developers are also keeping an eye on the next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett. This was also mentioned in an interview with the famous Diablo streamer Rhykker.
Here, Lead Systems Designer David Kim explained that Blizzard simply does not know the exact release dates for Scarlett and PS5 yet. Therefore, only PS4 and Xbox One are currently confirmed.
Diablo 3 was first released for PS3 and Xbox 360 and later for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Diablo 4 could also be released for the new consoles at a later date or be announced even before the release for PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.
When will Diablo 4 be released?

At Blizzcon 2020, the fourth class and more features will be revealed. At Blizzcon 2021, the fifth class and final features as well as the release date will be announced.

However, fans are not bothered at all about waiting longer. They mainly want Diablo 4 to be good, even if it requires a longer testing phase.
What does Blizzard say about it? In a further interview with Rhykker, David Kim reported that Blizzard has been working on Diablo 4 “for several years now.” Nevertheless, the developers have already cautioned that Diablo 4 “won’t come out even close to Blizzard-Soon”.
Kim hopes that it won’t take “10 years”, but one has to see.
