Crowfall
What is Crowfall? Crowfall offers an unusual gameplay concept where you visit dying worlds to gather resources for your Eternal Kingdom.
- During each campaign in one of the dying worlds, you can choose a new vessel for your hero that affects your abilities
- In the campaigns, you improve your hero, build fortresses, and fight not only monsters but also other players
- At the end of the campaign, the so-called Hunger consumes the world
- You then carry your earned rewards into your Eternal Kingdom
- Over time, you expand your kingdom with resources earned in the campaigns
- PvP is an important element
What is the status of the game? Development is progressing. The team is already at the point where they can test the campaigns. Siege tests are taking place where you can completely dismantle the fortresses of fellow players.
There are even leaderboards where players can see how well they performed. Due to feedback from the testers, regular changes are being made to optimize the game.

An Unusual MMORPG That Is Progressing Well
How was the game presented back then? In 2015, designers J. Todd Coleman and Gordon Walton announced a new MMORPG. Coleman was known for Shadowbane, and Walton for Star Wars Galaxies. The prospect of an online role-playing game that could combine both classics led to a very successful Kickstarter campaign that same year. A PvP-heavy MMORPG was desired by many at that time.
After the crowdfunding, the systems were repeatedly showcased, including how the Hunger destroys worlds or how you can build your Eternal Kingdom with the help of other players. The campaigns and how you find new vessels were also explained.
The communication with the community and how they supplied fans with information was exemplary. There were hardly any unanswered questions. Now that all systems have essentially been presented and are gradually being implemented into the game, there are not as many updates following.
Engine Deal Makes Crowfall Independent from Crowdfunding
Why do we hear so little about the game lately? The game is in a good state of development. The remaining features are being implemented and tests are being conducted. The developers are focusing on that.
They are slowly preparing Crowfall for release.
With Crowfall, like with Camelot Unchained, the pressure to earn money through crowdfunding is off. The funding is secured – among other things, because they can also earn money with their own engine.
How safe is the release? There is actually no doubt that Crowfall will be released. Development is already very advanced, and funding is also secure.
By licensing the Artisan engine on which the game is based to other developers, Studio Artcraft Entertainment has also opened an additional, stable source of income.
When will the game be released? Crowfall will be released through a so-called soft launch. This means that the game is already accessible and will be continuously expanded. Eventually, it will simply be announced that the beta has ended and Crowfall is “live”.
However, whether this will happen in 2019 is somewhat uncertain and also rather unlikely.
What will Crowfall be at best? The MMORPG should feel like a season of Game of Thrones. So if you like PvP, want to build something, experience epic sieges, and just want to experience an online role-playing game that plays somewhat differently than the common genre representatives, you could be happy with Crowfall.
Conclusion: All 3 Silent, but for Different Reasons
Why is there not more buzz about the 3 games? It seems clear that we hear little from the 3 games for two reasons:
- With Camelot Unchained and Crowfall, the studios no longer need crowdfunding money as much – they have used the crowdfunding campaign more as a “launchpad” to take off
- With Chronicles of Elyria, unfortunately, the team has nothing new to show their backers
