There are new images for the upcoming Wastelanders update for Fallout 76. These show Bethesda the underground of the city of Watoga. A detail in these images is now awakening the desire for cars in players.
What kind of images are these? In a new “From the Vault“, Bethesda has shown three new images for the Wastelanders update. The first image shows a huge automated garage where the citizens of Watoga can park and repair their cars.
In the second image, the terminals that control this garage can be seen. Citizens can even buy new cars there. Or could – because the service is “no longer available.”
The third image shows the waiting area of the garage. Here there is fast food, a pharmacy, and a hairdresser. Additionally, the image displays the badges of the Raider group “Gourmets” (the cannibals), one of the possible factions of Wastelanders.
Fans Wish for Cars as a Feature
This is why players now want cars: The whole idea of the garage has sparked a desire for drivable cars as features for Wastelanders among players. Especially German players are particularly excited about it. However, we are also considered “the driving nation”.
On the community site vault76.de, thread creator finirella is very happy: “As it looks, we will soon all be driving cars to run over the ghouls.” The idea is well received. Other users elaborate on it:
- Cars could be modified (aesthetically, with armor and weapons)
- The implementation would be easily possible thanks to the power armor system, as they are practically vehicles
- Team options for driver and shooter would be conceivable
- Motorcycles instead of cars would also be possible, perhaps even more fitting
Also on reddit, drivable cars seem to be one of the bigger wishes after the images. User bassbyblaine writes: “I won’t lie, I was about to flip out because we are getting vehicles until I read the last sentence of the paragraph.”
Will cars come as a feature? So far, these are merely the wishes of the fans, because as bassbyblaine has already pointed out and as it also says in “From the Vault”, the purchase options are no longer available.
So the chances of cars being a feature in Wastelanders are rather slim. However, there was already a drivable Corvega in Fallout 2, as FranzJaegerBerlin points out. Perhaps Bethesda has some surprises in store.
