Black Friday was also held in FIFA 20 on Friday. The event was eagerly anticipated by many players, but ultimately lived up to its name.
This is the Black Friday in FIFA 20: Black Friday is generally known for offering many great deals. It also plays a role in FIFA 20: A special Black Friday event is set to ignite the promotional fever annually in FIFA.
Among other things, the event featured a “Best of TOTW,” a collection of the best cards that became available again in packs. Additionally, there were:
- Lightning Rounds
- Promo Packs
- Flash SBCs
An interesting event then? On paper perhaps. But in the game itself, the situation looked bleak for many players.

Black Friday brings little joy
This is how Black Friday looked like: Many players hoped for good offers from Black Friday – perhaps in the form of packs sold at discounted prices. The promo packs in FIFA 20 were indeed available in larger numbers – but they were not cheaper.
Effectively, limited numbers of strong packs were offered, but buying them was not more worthwhile than usual. The problem: There are generally often promo packs in FIFA 20 – so the difference to other events is limited if the prices are not lower. Really good offers were absent.
This is how the community reacts to the event: Furthermore, the limited really strong packs sold out extremely quickly. This situation leads to some confusion in the community on Reddit:
EA had 150,000 Jumbo Rare Player Packs, each costing about 20 US dollars. They were sold out in 5 minutes. That’s 3 million dollars in 5 minutes. […] People are still emptying their pockets into the EA pool.

It must be noted, however, that a considerable amount of packs are bought for coins and not for FIFA Points. Nevertheless, Black Friday must have been quite profitable for EA Sports. The players, on the other hand, often feel disappointed with the packs – which, given the low probabilities of top players, is not a big surprise.
The last portion of frustration then comes from the Flash SBCs. These allow you to exchange teams for packs within a limited time, which you wouldn’t typically get that often.
But even here the rewards don’t look good enough to make it worthwhile: “These flash SBCs must be a joke,” complains user keyweez: “This promo is a celebration of completely normal full-price packs.”
Of course, there are also some players who had luck with their packs on Black Friday. However, a large part of the players had hoped for more from the promo. On Sunday, the new Super Sunday continues – how will the reactions to that turn out?
In 2020, there will be a major update. What’s included will be revealed here:
