With Patch 8.2, there are some new mounts from “old” reputation factions of WoW. The animals can be quite expensive and serve as a clear gold sink.
Patch 8.2 Azshara’s Rise from World of Warcraft brings a lot of new features to Azeroth. Some of these include fancy mounts in the areas of Nazjatar and Mechagon. However, there are also new mounts for other factions. The “old” reputation factions from Battle for Azeroth are being given new mounts that cost a lot of gold.
What mounts are there? In total, there are six new mounts for the existing reputation factions. Three of them are available for the Alliance and three more for the Horde. Each requires a revered reputation with the respective reputation faction.
The Alliance gets the following mounts from their respective factions:
Stormwatch
Firewrought
Glorious Tide Admiralty
The Horde gets the following mounts from their respective factions:
Talanji’s Expedition
Voldunai
Zandalari Empire

What do the mounts cost? Each of these mounts costs 72,000 gold pieces. So if you want all three mounts from your faction, you’ll end up spending 216,000 gold pieces. This should be affordable for many average players and might tempt some to spend a few gold pieces.
By the way, the mounts have existed since the beta of Battle for Azeroth in the game data but have not yet made their way into the game. With the release of Patch 8.2, that will now change.
Community is divided: Players are not in agreement. Some find it cheeky that Blizzard asks for so much gold for “recolors of already existing mounts.” Other players think it’s good that there are color variants of mounts they otherwise wouldn’t use. More variety is a good thing and it would be a shame if many mounts only existed in a few colors.
