In World of Warcraft, the warfronts are now only for well-equipped players. Fresh twinks with poor gear must stay outside.
With a small patch, Blizzard made a change to the warfronts this morning (09/12/2018). Instead of being able to participate directly at character level 120, there is now a limit based on item level. Those wearing less than an average item level of 320 cannot register for the warfront.
Why is there a restriction? There is no official reason from Blizzard for the introduction of a minimum item level. However, it is suspected that the developers do not want warfronts to be the only and optimal way to gear up a character. After all, every victory in a warfront grants an item with item level 340.
Therefore, there is a restriction, which means that at least some equipment must be earned from other sources (heroic or mythic dungeons, world quests, crafting).
The Alliance is particularly angry. Players of the Alliance are especially upset, feeling betrayed by Blizzard. After all, Horde players were able to equip all their characters at 120 with “free” items at item level 340 for three days, regardless of item level. Alliance players, who will not be able to enter the warfronts for a few weeks, no longer have this opportunity.
What do the supporters say? However, there are also some voices defending Blizzard’s decision. While the change is an annoyance in the short term, it is seen as sensible for the game in the long run. After all, it was never intended for players to immediately acquire such powerful gear at level 120. This should be earned gradually.
Cortyn says: Right now, Blizzard seems to be using every Wednesday to make a controversial decision that angers a large part of the player base. Personally, I find the change good, as I like to “gradually” improve my character and do not want to jump directly from 280 to 340. Those who play many twinks or dislike visiting dungeons are likely rightfully upset.
What do you think of this change? Do you think it’s good that twinks no longer receive 340 items directly? Or is this retrospective change completely unjustified?
