Apex Legends now offers the new Battle Pass for Season 1. It costs real money, but it is worth it in the end. Those who complete the pass will receive more Apex Coins than they invested.
How much does the Battle Pass cost? Apex Legends has finally launched its first season, and on March 19, 2019, at 6 PM, the first Battle Pass will finally arrive. It contains a lot of rewards and costs 950 Apex Coins. This is equivalent to 9.50 Euros in real money.
Why do you get your money back? The pass includes over 100 rewards. These include skins for heroes and weapons, banners, and Apex Coins.

In total, there are 1,000 of these coins, the real money exchange currency of Apex Legends, to be earned. Thus, you will receive 10 Euros back for your 9.50 Euros at the end.
What the Apex Coins bring
Can I earn real money with the Battle Pass? However, there is a catch. The 1,000 Apex Coins are firmly tied to the game. So you will only get the exchange currency Apex Coins back and not real money.
When do the coins appear in the Battle Pass? The coins can be found at levels 7, 11, 17, 21, 31, 37, 41, 47, 57, 63, 67, 87, and 97. The exact values of the different unlocks are not yet known. However, you will likely have to play far towards the end of the pass.

Since there are no additional challenges in Season 1 for faster leveling in Apex Legends, it may take a while.
What can I do with the Apex Coins? You can buy all sorts of things in the game with the coins. Among other things, loot boxes with cosmetics, one of the paywall heroes, or you can save the coins.
It would be especially worthwhile to buy the new hero Octane with them, as he only costs 750 Apex Coins. Alternatively, you can also farm 12,000 Legend Tokens in the game and unlock him that way.
How to get the 2nd Battle Pass for free: Those who save the coins can use them to get the second Battle Pass in a few weeks. This is expected to be released according to the Apex Legends roadmap in June.

According to Respawn Entertainment, you can use the coins to unlock the next Battle Pass as soon as it comes out.
If Apex Legends operates similarly to Fortnite, the pass should come with the unchanged price of 950 Coins and will be financed time and again by the previous pass.
So, if you never spend more coins, you can essentially get all upcoming Battle Passes for free as long as you play through the respective previous pass and claim the coin rewards.
