This week, there were both positive and negative news regarding MMORPGs. Especially with WoW , there was a lot going on due to the announcement of Dragonflight and WOTLK Classic. On the other hand, however, is the shutdown of TERA, which has been announced for June. We have summarized all the important news.
The highlights of the week:
- WoW introduced the new expansion Dragonflight. Highlights include the new class, a revamp of the talents, and flying on a dragon. There were discussions about that, as these dragons strongly resemble the mounts from Guild Wars 2.
- This year, WoW Classic will receive the expansion Wrath of the Lich King. However, this is causing discussions because the Dungeon Finder will be omitted.
- Lost Ark received a big patch this week with a new continent and the new class Spear-wielder.
The drama of the week: TERA is closing. After almost 10 years in the West, this action MMORPG will be shut down in June. For many, this move came as a surprise, as there was a major update just in February.
The discussion of the week: What do you think about the new info on Dragonflight? We would like to gather your opinions in this survey:

- Lost Ark released its first Battle Pass, but there is criticism regarding the skins. Additionally, we reported on two engravings that appear to be strong on paper but do not suit everyone.
This is what is happening with the smaller MMORPGs:

- Neverwinter will receive the new expansion Dragonslayer in June. In new missions and a revamped raid, you should become real dragon slayers.
- In New World, servers have been merged again, so the surviving worlds are now well populated. Additionally, the Twitch streamer shroud explains why New World and Lost Ark have lost so many players in his opinion.
- Lineage 2 is turning 18 years old, and fittingly, there are new events running until May 18 (via MassivelyOP).
- Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will get a snowy area and snowboarding in the summer (via MassivelyOP).
This is what is happening with the MMORPGs in development:
- With Persist Online, a new MMORPG has entered open alpha. It is being developed by the German studio CipSoft, which previously had great success with Tibia Online.
- The sandbox MMORPG Profane shared new details, this time about mounts that you can tame (via Twitter).
