Actually, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is supposed to be released on February 4, 2025. However, those who ordered the physical version of the RPG for consoles may be able to play it already, if they’re lucky. Unfortunately, a sudden cancellation could also come your way.
Why are players already playing? Officially, the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 5 PM our time. However, since the RPG by Warhorse Studios is not an online game that needs to be constantly connected to any servers, this restriction only applies to digital versions.
On the other hand, those who pre-ordered one of the physical editions for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series may already hold their package in their hands and be able to install and play it, with a bit of luck. On social platforms like Reddit, several happy pre-orderers are showing that they have already received their version of the game.
Alkros is among the first owners of the RPG and confirms on Reddit: “I was able to install and start the game after downloading an 80 GB update to version 1.011.”
Alternatively, like Luke Dale, you may belong to the cast of the game and have received a version of Kingdom Come 2 directly from the developer (via Reddit). The actor has lent his face and voice to Hans Capon in both parts.

Who relies on GameStop …
What about the cancellations? You have surely noticed that the retail chain GameStop is struggling. All remaining stores in Germany had to be closed this week. The currently difficult situation of GameStop also affects customers in other countries, as shown by the post from Copperypuddle on Reddit.
He had pre-ordered the almost $200 Collector’s Edition of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 for the Xbox Series X from gamestop.com. Now, according to the post, shortly before the launch, there was a notice that the order had to be canceled due to high demand. The younger generation would say, “Too bad, marmalade.”
How is the community reacting? Under the GameStop post, several pre-orderers write that they have better luck.
- revthejedi explains on Reddit: “I ordered mine on November 5th, and it’s ready for shipping. I’m really sorry, OP.”
- Ravix_oF questions the reason given by GameStop on Reddit: “The excuse is definitely nonsense. High demand occurs at the time of pre-ordering, not just shortly before delivery. They oversold their quota, or someone is stealing it for themselves.”
- The-eggy-one wonders on Reddit: “I am honestly quite surprised to read in this thread that so many people are still buying physical games. Literally all my friends and I have only ordered online since the PS4 came out.”
With an eye on the early gamers, a certain envy is spreading. Some players, however, also hope that they will not unexpectedly stumble across spoilers for the game over the next few days.
- ACO_22 writes on Reddit: “So sad that I switched to PC for this game and now have to wait like a fool until release 🙁 .”
- ReFlectioH makes a request on Reddit: “Congratulations and have fun, but please don’t spoil the story for everyone else!”
- Whispering_Wolf jokes on Reddit: “This is not a Day-1 Edition; it’s a -4-Days Edition! Enjoy!”
- OfficiallyExtinct from Germany shows gratitude on Reddit: “I got it VERY early. Thank you, DHL.”
What do I need to know about Kingdom Come? The first RPG from Warhorse Studios was released on February 13, 2018, and became a surprise success despite some technical issues. On Steam the RPG has 83% positive reviews.
Like part 1, the sequel, which will be released on February 4, 2025, for PC and consoles, will revolve around Heinrich, the son of a blacksmith. In both games, you can expect open-world adventures from the first-person perspective, focusing heavily on the story, an authentic simulation of the game world, and the RPG experience.
The KCD series follows an old-school approach, which provides comparatively little hand-holding while granting many freedoms. You can find out more here: Everything about the release, price, editions, system requirements, preload, roadmap, and scope of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
