Call of Duty: Warzone is undoubtedly one of the best Call of Duty games and immensely popular. MyMMO editor Noah Struthoff prefers to play the smartphone spin-off Call of Duty: Mobile. Why?
Call of Duty has actually accompanied me throughout my entire youth. I grew up with it and have played almost every CoD title – some more, some less eagerly.
With Call of Duty: Warzone, a Battle Royale came along that thrilled thousands of players and initially hooked me as well. However, I have become somewhat bored with it now.
Instead, I found an alternative that I enjoy playing much more: CoD Mobile. On my phone, I regularly take out players and win rounds. I haven’t entered Warzone in weeks, but I still regularly play Call of Duty on my phone.
More Variety and Flexibility
What do I like about CoD Mobile? The possibilities in Call of Duty: Mobile are enormous. The developers continuously bring new updates, and every week it feels like I am experiencing something new. A lot has happened in the first year of CoD Mobile:
- Compared to the release, there are now twice as many maps (23 in total).
- There are 27 multiplayer modes that I can switch between as I wish.
- There is even a Battle Royale if I should miss Warzone.
- Over 1400 weapons are available to choose from.
The changes are noticeable, and I can play for hours without ever feeling like it’s repetitive.
Even though you play on a smartphone, CoD Mobile is an incredibly good shooter. It is realistically designed, and often you don’t even realize that you are actually playing on a phone.
I’m good at it and it’s fun: Even though I have been playing shooters for years, I am not a professional. It’s rare for me to win a round or lead the scoreboard. But in CoD Mobile, that’s different.
The mobile game uses bots in the lobby, allowing even the biggest noob to march through the game and collect kills. That’s fun, because there isn’t a sweaty opponent lurking around every corner trying to take me out.
I have secured victories in Battle Royale and normal rounds and felt really great about it. I went from being an average player to a true expert – at least that’s how it felt.
What I like the most: I can really play CoD Mobile anywhere. If I only have a short amount of time and am still looking for something to do, I play CoD Mobile.
That is useful in many situations: during commercial breaks, while riding the bus, on my lunch break, and to unwind in bed. I just have to pull out my phone and I can get started.
I get the classic shooter feeling while being able to be anywhere. That fits me well because I feel like I’m on the go every free minute, and when I have waiting times, I quickly play a round of CoD Mobile.
That’s why I prefer CoD Mobile: Don’t get me wrong, Warzone and Modern Warfare are good CoDs, and I definitely had my fun with them. But especially Warzone feels the same to me after a while. You run around in houses for ages, collect good loot, and then one second you’re taken out by a sniper and you’re out. That takes away the fun for me in the long run.
CoD Mobile I can turn on and switch between dozens of modes – depending on my mood. Sure, Warzone is purely a Battle Royale, but CoD Mobile offers that and also more modes.
I’m not a big fan of long gaming nights either; I play a bit here and then resume later. Sometimes it’s not even worth it for me to fire up the PlayStation.
Here’s some criticism: If there’s one criticism I have, it’s the numerous prompts to invest money in the game. CoD Mobile still has that classic mobile face and you’re tempted to spend some money.
That is of course logical. After all, the game is completely free, and somehow the developers have to make money.
Nevertheless, I have to say that so far I have managed completely without real money and have been able to resist every temptation. So far I have not experienced any disadvantages and still won my matches. Most items in the in-game shop are cosmetic, like the numerous skins from Season 11.
This is what CoD Mobile offers me: In summary, I can say that I have a great Call of Duty compact on my phone that I can pull out at any time. It gets at least as many updates and innovations as Warzone and is overall significantly more varied.
The quality is also right. The mechanics work well, and CoD Mobile is far from a cheap knockoff on mobile. That’s why I prefer it to Warzone.
If you now want to start a round or two in CoD Mobile, you should remember the best weapons:
