At Blizzard, the household harmony is currently askew: Online issues continue to plague Diablo 2: Resurrected even a month after release. Meanwhile, there is jubilation at Path of Exile , celebrating the player counts of the new expansion “Scourge” and is very close to an all-time record.
This is the situation with Diablo 2 Resurrected:
- We reported on MeinMMO on Sunday that Blizzard is currently being overwhelmed with complaints about Diablo 2.
- Players on PC and consoles are frustrated with long queues and unstable servers. The infrastructure appears to not be able to handle the many boss runs of players.
- People are criticizing Blizzard, demanding their money back, and even threatening lawsuits.
The trailer for the new Path of Exile expansion already looks like Diablo:
New expansion brings players back to Path of Exile
This is how it goes at Path of Exile: At Path of Exile, spirits are high. It is said that the action RPG has reached a peak of 254,570 players, which is 96% of the all-time high.
This is particularly juicy, as Path of Exile is considered the unofficial successor to “Dark Diablo 2” and was created with the idea that Diablo 3 is not a worthy successor, being too colorful and simplistic.
Therefore, Path of Exile loves it particularly dark, bloody, and cherishes its intricately nested item and progression system. The new expansion strikes exactly in this vein.
New expansion brings cubes similar to Diablo
Why is Path of Exile doing so well right now? Path of Exile released a new expansion on PC on October 22: “Path of Exile: The Scourge”. The expansion is set to launch tomorrow on PlayStation and Xbox.
“Scourge” is a typical expansion that comes once every quarter to Path of Exile. An army of demons from a parallel timeline attacks. Players can soak their weapons in the blood of demons and thus strengthen them.
As PC Gamer writes, the expansion introduces an artifact to the game, the “Blood Crucible”. It resembles the Horadric Cube from Diablo 2. With it, players can reforge existing items and incorporate various upgrades. Additionally, new skills such as a tornado and skill sets designed for co-op players with which two players can connect are included.
Apparently, the expansion hits the taste of Path of Exile players.
One could almost read it as a jab that they are pleased at Path of Exile about how smoothly everything has gone. Although they had some difficulties at launch, they have quickly gotten them under control, the team writes.
Perhaps Blizzard is currently enviously looking at the competitor.
