Are there any MMOs that you are looking forward to and following their development? Let us know.
You can vote here: We want to know from you via survey which MMO is the most exciting for you and why.
The search for a new MMO is not easy at all. While in the single-player sector a hit chases the next one, and we no longer know where to find the time for all the games, it looks completely different for Massively Multiplayer Online games.
Even though you might focus on one game for a long time with MMOs, the desire for something new and fresh apart from World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy Online, and the like is strong. But which MMO star in the sky have you set your sights on? We want to find out with the survey embedded above.
If the titles above mean nothing to you, you will find a brief summary of each game in the following sections.
Ashes of Creation
Developer: Intrepid Studios | Platform: PC | Release: unknown | Cost model: Subscription
The sandbox MMO aims to provide you with a world that reacts to your actions. This is supposed to work through a complex economic system, castle sieges, or dynamic quests. Depending on who currently owns the individual cities (called nodes), other NPCs, quests, and secrets are unlocked.
Also exciting: You don’t just choose a class as usual; you combine two of the total eight different classes, resulting in a rather individual playstyle.
ArcheAge2
Developer: XLGames | Platform: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S | Release: 2024 | Cost model: Free2Play
With the successor of the same name MMO from 2014, everything is supposed to be different and better. Starting with the graphics in Unreal Engine 5 to the twice as large sandbox game world, the developers want to turn everything upside down while staying true to basic elements like guild battles, ship battles, housing, and trade.
Blue Protocol
Developer: Bandai Namco | Platform: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S | Release: 2023 | Cost model: Free2Play
The theme park MMO wants to captivate you with its time travel story and fantasy setting with a slight sci-fi touch. In addition, there is an action-packed and dynamic combat system where you rely on combos, dodge rolls, and powerful attacks. Unlike other MMOs in this area, you don’t receive your loot directly from defeated enemies, but through crafting.
Corepunk
Developer: Bandai Namco | Platform: PC | Release: unknown | Cost model: Buy2Play
MMOs with isometric perspective have been in vogue again since Lost Ark. Corepunk brings everything that a gamer’s heart desires with dungeons, mounts, and a focus on world exploration. However, what is exciting is the crafting system, where you need to specialize in a profession to become a skilled craftsman, similar to the latest WoW expansion Dragonflight.
Into the Echo
Developer: Etlock Studios | Platform: PC | Release: unknown | Cost model: Unknown
Into the Echo aims to lure you in with time travel and a rather unconventional experience and progress system. Not everyone follows a prescribed path like lemmings, but explores individual aspects of the game. How this is supposed to look in practice is still unknown.
Palia
Developer: Singularity 6 | Platform: PC | Release: unknown | Cost model: Free2Play
Palia is a kind of cozy MMO. Instead of saving the world from doom again, you focus here on a simple life full of happiness and joy. You decorate your house and garden, chat with the villagers, and go fishing, mining, or hunting. So, imagine a kind of Animal Crossing MMO.
Pantheon Rise of the Fallen
Developer: Visionary Realms | Platform: PC | Release: unknown | Cost model: Unknown
With a high-fantasy setting, 9 different races, and 14 classes, Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen is among the more classic MMOs. The focus is clearly on PvE with 15 dungeons that are supposed to exist at release.
Pioner
Developer: Lionheart Studio | Platform: PC | Release: 2023 | Cost model: Unknown
If fantasy doesn’t interest you much, Pioner might be just right for you. Because here the post-apocalypse takes center stage. As a former special agent, you fight against monsters and nature and try to survive with what is hopefully a well-stocked arsenal of weapons.
Throne and Liberty
Developer: NCSoft Korea | Platform: PC, PS5, Xbox X | Release: Q3 2023 | Cost model: Unknown
Throne and Liberty (or Project TL) might still be known to you under its former name Lineage Eternal, which was originally planned as a game from an isometric perspective, but will now take place from a third-person view. Throne and Liberty is based on an open world, weapon instead of class selection, and castle sieges.
