Place 3: Era 4, Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold & SoulSilver

- Gen: 4 and 2
In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, it was the first time the space-time continuum was addressed. There were 107 new Pokémon and 3D graphics models for buildings and landscapes. It was the first Pokémon game to utilize the internet. Players could trade Pokémon worldwide through the Global Trade Station without being physically in the same room.
HeartGold and SoulSilver were released 3 years later than Diamond & Pearl and are remakes of the second generation. One particularly popular feature was that each of the existing Pokémon could follow a trainer in the game world. You could interact with them to check their mood or find small items. Additionally, with the help of the Pokéwalker, it was possible to collect steps for the game to catch Pokémon or find items.
The Poketech was really cool, and the underground was one of the best mini-games in any Pokémon game. Story, legendaries, starters, and generally the Pokémon from Gen 4, Elite Four and the champion were just great (Cynthia, please don’t hurt me). SoulSilver/HeartGold were also really good, especially with the Pokéwalker and the Pokéathlon.”
Place 2: Era 1, Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow

Pokémon Red and Blue are the first games in the franchise. In Europe, the two editions launched about 3 years later than in Japan. Players here could also choose between the red and green edition, with the plant Pokémon Bulbasaur being the mascot. However, the first editions were full of ugly sprites and bugs, which is why the blue edition was later added as an improved version that was ultimately also released in Europe. This is also the reason why FireRed and LeafGreen were released as remakes later.
In the yellow edition, Pikachu was necessarily the starter Pokémon. It followed you everywhere and established a feature that was later also used in HeartGold and SoulSilver. It simply refused to go into its Pokéball and does not evolve with a Thunder Stone.

By a narrow margin, the third era is the most popular in the MeinMMO editorial team. During this time, Pokémon gained passive abilities and characteristics for the first time. There were also double battles and Pokémon contests, where the focus was not on strength but on beauty, coolness, and other attributes. Particularly popular were also the secret bases, that MeinMMO editor Jasmin Beverungen wishes for again.
As mentioned in second place, FireRed and LeafGreen were the remakes of Red and Blue. The games were not only technically modernized but also introduced the islands as a new feature. The islands expanded the story and were home to Pokémon from Kanto and Johto.
Did you know that Pokémon Red and Blue were not the first encounters in Germany with the colorful pocket monsters? Before that, there was an accessory for the Game Boy that had to do with the creatures: Before Pokémon Red & Blue and the anime, the first pocket monsters appeared in Germany with a console accessory
