What is the status of shooters in 2023? After many years of dominance, major shooter brands like Battlefield and Call of Duty are struggling. Player numbers are declining, and there is criticism of the game modes and the cheaters that seem to be out of control.
The loot shooter giant Destiny 2 has also received criticism after the new expansion Lightfall. Even the once-unstoppable battle royale champion Fortnite is not doing as well today as it did a few years ago.
Some shooter fans seem to be looking for alternatives in the indie sector in 2023. Shooters like Squad or Hell Let Loose are receiving many positive reviews on Steam, but their player numbers cannot compete with Warzone 2.
It seems that we are currently missing that one big hit that resonates with a large part of the community and dominates the shooter landscape. But maybe we don’t actually need that? What do you think?
Let us know in the comments how you see the current state of shooter games. Do you have a game that you always play or are you generally dissatisfied with the offerings? What exactly do you like or dislike about the titles currently on the market?
Tell us and have fun voting! We are excited to hear from you.
